View Full Version : wheel plating

I was washing my wife's FL2 yesterday (2008YM, 24k) and noticed that the plated finish on the standard 17" wheels had lifted in some areas of one wheel. The wheels have never struck the kerb nor been offroad, but I have used a high pressure hose at the car wash.

I have an extended warranty and am wondering if this is a claimable item? Has anyone any ideas?

Thanks,
Ten.

I would think that if there is no damage due to kerb strikes or similar, and it is only on 1 wheel, then it certainly is worth giving the warranty a go.

After all, if the other wheels are still fine, and they are all the same age, then it should be classed as a manufacturing fault.

High pressure hoses can be a dangerous thing in terms of paint and so on, but I'm not sure that going to a carwash and using their hose is outside what most of us would call 'every day use'.

It would be worth investigating a warranty claim given the other three wheels survived intact :)

Thanks for that. I will give my dealer a call tomorrow.
