Hi everyone,

I posted this on another thread but no answers so I'll try again.

My wifes D3 started coughing and spluttering the other day. Then it wouldnt start. I jumped it and got it going but thought it was strange so i checked the voltage and it varies between 10 and 13.3. I think the regulator is gone so the delaer says it cant be replaced and the changeover alterator is $400.

Any ideas? Surely you can get a replacement regulator for these things.

By the way its a V6 petrol.

Thanks in advance

My alternator also went s couple of weeks ago and I also was informed that they are not serviceable. So a replacement alternator was the answer and all is good mines a TDV6

So it wasn't the led trailer lights then? :)

There was a post on this forum not long ago advising that there is now a replacement regulator available, albeit made in China. Some rigorous searching should find it.
