I have a Samsung Galaxy S (android phone) which has an inbuilt GPS. I want to be able to get a UTM read out for use with paper maps. So I am looking for a simple app which provides UTM and dms readout. Ideally, it needs to be able to set the datum. I don't need an app which comes with or requires maps.
Does anyone know of a good app?

Oziexplorer CE can do it,

you need to set the display options to include the raw data or leave it on the GPS screen.
ulysse gizmos does it too

as does androzic

Just on the Samsung, if you have a car bracket with an inductive antenna, it seems to obliterate the GPS receiver so you have trouble getting even 1 satellite.
Out of the bracket it's fine.

I have an Iphone so don't know if these have equivalents in android, but look for
Basic GPS (free) - additional datums though are at a cost
motion -X GPS is very good but a bit more advanced on what you are looking for.

Thanks, but not an issue for me. The GPS works quite well in a cheap window mount. Would suck the waves in better if the windscreen was more sloped, however.

Tried Basic GPS which looks great on the website, and is true for iPhones. Unfortunately the Android version is not as advanced and, for me, unsatisfactory. Got my money back (all of $0.99). So, I have now downloaded GPS Essentials which is also very good. Can amend datum (has AGD66, AGD84, amongst many but not GDA94 but it is near enough the same as WGS84). On my phone program is stable when not connected to network.
