Is there any compelling reason I should steer clear of one of these?
Last Thursday SWMBO had our second child and the 2005 Subaru Liberty isn't going to be big enough. I have been looking at TD6 engined L322s, but the V8 diesel has extras that I like (terrain response, etc).

doesnt the 2007 still have 18's??
or is that just the sport?

awesome engine:cool::cool:

I love my TD6, but would have looked at a newer vintage if I had the $$$, go for it!

Congrats on the new arrival Jon. I haven't seen anything on any of the forums I poke around on that suggests there are any real issues with these. The TDV8 is a great engine. If/when I upgrade mine, I would be looking at the same vehicle I think.

I'll have a good look at the buyers guide on Full Fat to see if there is anything glaring you should be aware of.

Cheers - Gav.

..has extras that I like (terrain response, etc).Llams plugs straight in too although needing a longer switch cable if the switch is mounted inside the centre cubby box.

Congratulations on the new arrival !

For the TdV8; just make sure you have the auto's oil flushed and filter changed reguarly around 60k - 80k depending on how it's been used. Otherwise enjoy !!!

....

No.

I love my TD6 to bits, but the only reason I didn't get a 3.6 TDV8 was my bank account, when I purchased mine (for 40k) the cheapest TDV8 was still over 100k. In saying this there is a huge difference between the TD6 and MY07 TDV8. Good mate has one and it is better in nearly every way, a mild retune gives 800nm :D and with a transmision that can take it.

I have signed purchase contracts subject to personal inspection so I need to book a flight to Melbourne to pick it up. Lots of money, but it is what I want and I am not getting any younger. Should be plenty of room for the two baby seats.

Gav,

I fly in next Saturday. I think I have convinced Sniegy to pick me up from the airport and take me to the car. Will then be heading through to Horsham some time in the afternoon.

PM me your phone number, I have lost it with phone changes.

I got home this afternoon after driving Melbourne to Horsham on Saturday, then Horsham to Adelaide via Strathalbyn today.

I am officially in love.

This is without a doubt the finest vehicle I have ever driven ( and I have driven a lot, mechanic by trade, ex LR dealer employee).

So much grunt. Acceleration is available by just thinking about it. You don't even notice flexing the ankle and all the cars around you are just gone in the rear vision mirror.

So little noise. Some nice V8 engine noise, but almost nothing else. Beautiful ride quality, even on 19 inch wheels.

So little fuel. I think it used about 10 litres per hundred on the trip. Coming from my '87 Classic 3.9 that is a revelation.

The stereo is excellent, the sat nav works, A/C, heated seats, lots of toys.

I am looking forward to many years of happy ownership with this car. There was some discussion of a D3/4 to get 7 seats, but I am glad I went with the L322.

Pictures to come, it desperately needs a wash.

It is a very nice ride - thanks for dropping by to show it off.:). I'm more than a little envious of the V8 and all it has to offer.

Happy motoring mate.

Did I see that white 322 in town last week?

If not then there's another white 322 with sidesteps in Adelaide!

BigJon
29th April 2013, 06:56 AM
Quite possibly. What part of town? We live out Mitcham way, but the boss does use the Vogue as her every day car now. I get to use it when she doesn't need it.

I wouldn't have sidesteps on my own car but A: It came with them and B: they will be very handy for the two little girls when it comes to climbing in and out.

Exactly why ours has them, small kids wouldn't be able to climb in without them...

Here are a few pics of more recent modifications.
Driving lights are not wired up yet, that is a job for my next spare time, whenever that might be. I put about 5 hours into thinking about and making the light mounts. The only modification to the car was a slight trim of the lip at the rear of the bumper bar, which is fully hidden by the grille if/when I remove the mounts.
The LED reverse lights go some way to fixing the dim standard reverse lights.

The observant among you might notice the new number plates, I couldn't help myself :whistling:

Thanks for the photos. Noticed the plates immediately...very apt. Your bracket design is indeed well thought out.....not too obvious and looks strong so wouldn't vibrate. With the paint it fits in well. What are the lights?
