P38 Track Rod assy or Drag Link, whatever!

Can anyone tell me if they know of any other Drag Link or Track Rod assy that will fit the P38?
It just seems so stupid to replace the entire assy when the NSF or left hand front Tierod end spits the dummy. Especially after 18 months of easy service...

I recently replaced upper and lower ball joints as well as track rod and drag link assembly's. no easy task! In my search for the components I was only able to track down alternative brands and no alternative components. I finished up with the slightly higher price but superior quality Lemforder components.

Hi Gary,
The Left Tie Rod end is the mongrel.
I figured that if a complete drag link and ends from a Classic would fit, at least all tie rods would be replaceable instead of having to change the entire link all the time.
Ball Joints done about a month ago.

I have a perished and damaged boot on one of my tie rod ends, I am currently trying to find a replacement which will hopefully make the ends last a bit longer.

Once they wear out however, I am in the same boat as everyone else :angry:

I have seen replacement tie rods available i the US here http://www.rte-fab.com/products?page=shop.product_details&flypage=yagendoo_VaMazing_zoom1.tpl&product_id=214&category_id=15

They don't look anything special, so I am thinking perhaps an Aussie suspension shop could come up with something.

Then i can fit tie rod ends with grease nipples !!!

I will let everyone know how i go with replacing the boots

I did the whole front end a few months ago now. Massive difference in the steering response! The main reason the parts were changed however was like yourself the boots had perished, ultimately causing a lot of wear on the joints as the sand and mud finds its way in. Changing the drag link as a complete unit and the steering linkage as a complete unit is not too difficult. The fun starts when you are changing the uppper and lower ball joints. As for part suppliers, I went with Paddok Spares in the UK, good price and quick to deliver ;)

I found some boots at bursons which may do the job, if not i may revert to this in the short term
