Well finally received my winch from wolf 4x4 on sat. Installed it and all good. The solenoid cover colour is almost the same cloud as the disco. This winch barely fits! But all good, had to cut away a lot of the air dam to get it to fit. I might have to trim the Bullbar a bit as the hawse does not sit high enough and the dyneema rope will rub on that bar before the hawse!57943
Next weekends project is the Baja rack!

You might consider an offset hawse. Better if you know that is what you need and get it in place of standard one when you get the winch. I think I paid about $90 getting it as an after thought.

Hi Canaus I'm thinking of getting one of these on my ARB bar also but I'm not the most practical bloke so a bit worried about the install... what's the "air dam" you had to cut away?

If you look down the holes where the solenoid will go there should be a horizontal plastic bit with a soft rubber front to it, that will have to be trimmed back to the pillar that supports it, also underneath this pillar you will have to trim platitudes away to get the winch as high in there as possible or you won't get bolts in. If you remove guard underneath bar(centre) you will see this air dam and also a plastic bar that runs across in front of oil cooler, that has to go as well. I found the best thing for cutting the hard plastic was using a paint scraper, heat up tip and it his right through he plastic with nice clean lines. This winch is large and I needed a hand to get it in. I have just ordered an offset hawse from eBay precision alloy 35mm offset. If ya need a hand with any questions please pm me!

Cheers Billy

Hi mate.. my winch just arrived.. for some reason I ordered the 11xp model and it seems huge.. and checking back here I see that you got the 12k model....

Did I order the wrong one or will this one fit also? I can't remember what I read or saw to make me order this one now :'/

Never mind I see you were getting the 11xp in another post and got the 12k when it was out of stock so it should be ok :)

Hey Tombie,

Basically I've come out of the solenoid and along the arb bar, then up under the bonnet beside the washer bottle. 59468

You can just see the red cable, ran out of split conduit.

Then attached to aux battery.

Hope that helps! Feel free to send me and queries!

Hi Can looking at having a go fitting it this w/e.. just looking at it it seems it would fit rotated so the free spool lever is on the right of the car facing backwards... (Or left side behind winch as you're looking at it from the front). Does this sound right?

Mmmm I don't think so? You would be putting the winch in the wrong way!! The free spool lever has to be on the left side when looking at the car from the front. This is where the hole in the bull bar is to access it(arb is anyways). I'm not sure if it can be fitted the other way. 60204

When you look at this photo, this is how it should look, needs to be rotated 90 to the rear as the stainless rods face the radiator!!

I just can't see how it bolts down - there is nothing to bolt it to that way... so I'm missing something obvious lol....

If I put it that way then it is bolted on the bottom (as I would expect) but the 4 bolt mount points on the bullbar seem to be vertical, not horizontal... the only 4 bolt holes I can see are the ones that were holding on the temporary ARB cover plate...

So I'm missing something obvious... :'/

Hmm I think I'm getting it now... correct me if I'm wrong....

The pic isn't quite right as it show the feet down...

I will need to rotate the gearbox 90 deg forward to get the freespool lever up... ? this was the bit I didn't know about sorry....

Yes the pic is wrong hence why I said it needs rotating 90 degrees to the rear. Please feel free to send me a pm and ill give ya my mobile and chat if ya need to. Now with this winch I ended up rotating my freespool towards the front of vehicle, between the mounting holes. I also pulled it out heated it up and gave it a more of a 90 degree bend. This for me was the best fit. Remember you have to remove a lot of the air dam. I used a paint scrapper and blow torch, heat end of scapper up and push through plastic where it's to hard to use Stanley knife, and repeat.
Any questions let me know

Winch install went well last weekend thanks all esp canaus for the tips. I could only seem to put the freespool lever underneath which isn't great for access when down in the mud etc... and i need to make a little access port/hole in the bash plate to get to it...

Ill try and take a pic of mine! Like I said I removed the freespool lever and heated up and using 2 shifters bent it to a 90 degree angle.
