Where can one get a D2 windscreen to plenum cover?

Mine is in a zillion pieces, I assume from a windscreen fitter as the current screen is pretty new..
I have glued it together using Sikaflex and masking tape.
I have asked at Davis Performance Landies and they are at least $350.

Does anyone have a part number or experience in buying from UK?
It sure is a dopey system and material for cars in hot climates.

mine was busted by the installer too and then claimed to have been already like that. was a wasted exercise trying to claim it back under insurance.

part number - JAK000010PMA

britcar has them for about $190 plus shipping (rfom the UK)
LRA has them for $244 plus shipping (australian)

Have a look at this link. Part nr is JAK000010PMA. In this thread, it indicates that others have got it ok from the uk. It's a big, reasonably fragile part to move half way across the globe.

http://www.aulro.com/afvb/discovery-2/148429-windscreen-trim.html. Mine is also broken, and the more you touch it the more it breaks!!! I will replace it when the windscreen needs replacing. The fibreglass option from MiamiBritish would seem to be more robust and is $199 (US) plus freight. Don't know about it's quality.

x2

déjà vu.

Postage was pretty reasonable and I think when I bought mine it was $160 at Britcar (UK). BOR wanted $170 for a +9 year old sunbaked one (dreaming).

Mines in 2 pieces - I think the sun just finished it off as it's been over a year since a new screen went in - has anyone repaired with fibreglass or any other plastic repair kits with any success?

Seems like a lot of money for a replacement just to stop it buzzing at speed....

not only to stop the buzzing. It also shields the ventilation intake for the heater so you dont get wet feet! :) Mine is all silasticed up too from previous 'screen installers I assume. It looks mighty untidy! :(HaHa if I had the readies I would buy a container load and make a killing! :D Well maybe not with my salesmen skills :) $ 192 from LR Direct it seems

I just did a quick workout on the air freight by estimating 160x20x12 CM and it came to $100, so not viable to buy from UK because of the volume of the box.

Ok, found it on Les Richmond site. They need a good website developer.

My windscreen guy says unless it is busted in the middle you need to remove the bonnet to get it off without breaking it.

just a tip for fitting a new one when you get one.

Cheers

If you look harder I'm pretty sure you could find at least another five parts that need replacing to justify the postage from the UK. (Your estimate would be fairly close by the way). I compile a list every time.

Radiator Cap.
'A' Pillar Covers
New key/fob?
Side Indicators Lens
Misc Gromets

Good thread...glad I read it. I got my truck back from getting the gear box overhauled. ..noticed that over about 4000rpm a buzzing sound...sounds like its just insde near the windscreen or in the top of the firewall. ..then noticed next day that the plastc plenum cover is in 2 pieces right at the point where the sound sounds like its coming from...then read this thread. Looks like I might have located the buzz...:)

Um are the trim on the outside of the a pillars not reusable? I was planning to pull one off to run cables up to my rod rack from the engine bay.

They have a limited life. The older they get the worse they get. They can only be removed and put back maybe three times, after this the moulding which has metal clips just snaps. They are a very poor design. Be very careful removing them but then be even more careful putting them back on.

Pretty sure windscreen repairers just glue them back on with silastic.

Yes and no. They usually break on the way off if they've been on the vehicle for a while.

I have two small chips in my windscreen (managed to do them on the drive home when I bought it in Sydney), haven't bothered having them fixed yet, and the more I read the more inclined I am too keep them due to the issues with leaking replacement screens and broken plastics!

Got a quote on postage from LR Direct for the plenum cover of $85.72 so that makes it about $277 odd dollars posted! Probly could make up a parcel with a bit of other stuff to offset it a bit :)

There is an all makes aftermarket too that might be an option:

LAND ROVER FRONT WIPER PANEL COVER DISCOVERY 2 II 99 – 04 ALL MAKES | Miami British (http://miamibritish.com/shop/land-rover-front-wiper-panel-cover-discovery-ii-99-04-mrb/)

It claims to be fiberglass instead of plastic.

Yes I looked at the Miami British site but it appears they dont ship overseas? Fiberglass would be a much better idea for longevity, Although from what I can gather most are broken by windscreen repairers not bothering to go the whole hog and remove it properly. The rave says to remove the bonnet then the plenum when doing a screen.
LR automotive so far is the cheapest option on its own for 1

My plenum is still in perfect, condition, but the top seal that touches on the front windscreen seems to have shrunk a bit as it's no longer the full length of the plenum.

Seems I can't purchase this part by itself. I thought it was JAE100120 Air Intake Seal which I found on MicroCat, but it's not it. Different seal.

Mine has shrunk an inch or two.
Have you tried Clarks Rubber or somewhere similar for a universal rubber that would do the job?
