I was just browsing gumtree when i saw this. :o

2004 Land Rover Defender SUV | Cars, Vans & Utes | Gumtree Australia Yeppoon Area - The Keppels (http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/the-keppels/cars-vans-utes/2004-land-rover-defender-suv/1007078642#)

I think he is asking quite a premium for a 04 model, sure it has low kms (90000), but WOW. You could get a 2009 puma for that.

***
Also on a side note i noticed that it has a dial for headlight adjustment, my 06 td5 doesnt have this, and it would be handy to have. Is there anyway to retro fit it?

Thanks

I doubt it's worth it.
I saw a Td5 Extreme with more fruit than you'd find in a grocery store, full racks, roll cage, winch, barwork, sliders, full cargo load out, HF radio, UHF, came with an Engel fridge, you wouldn't need to spend any money on fit out and he was asking a few grand less than this, and had about 30k kms less on it.
What's that line from the castle?

When they're trying to sell 2003 3 door ex-Army remediation TD5 Defenders with no fruit at $32,000 and 1989 4 speed soft top ex-Army perentie at $27,000, you can't blame an owner for asking $40K for an Xtreme.

It all depends whether your a buyer or seller, but I can confirm I won't be buying any of them at those prices.

Give it a while and it'll drop, after he realises it's too much

What strikes me if its his daily, and only done 90k, then it's almost like a school drop off vehicle. It would barely get warm before its shut down again. It may not matter, but thought diesels were made to start and run for long periods.

Doesn't have HD axles, lockers & a lot of other goodies.
There's no way that will fit in the billiard room.
"Tell him he's dreamin"
Wouldn't pay more than 29k for it.
I reckon id be taking the dealer up on his offer.
Nice truck though !

I was planning on buying a TD5 defender, but with the prices (even more reasonable prices) they go for, I couldn't justify it. So I bought an Isuzu. :D

I know it's supply and demand, so the high prices are probably "right" for the market, but that doesn't mean it's "worth" that much.

Defenders of all models sell for a relatively high price due to their availability and how much people want a second hand one. Just the way it is with defenders if you ask me...

Also as it's an 04 it doesn't have a Sal rear.
If he took about 10-12k off it'd be a pretty good deal.

Only the South African built models had this. I'm sure you could retro fit, IF you could find a wrecked one.

And, yeah I reckon 30k is generous.

i bought a 2004 defender mine had a few dings in it and had 90000kms on the clock all i payed was 22000 and i thought that was abit much. Man u would have to be a dumb ass to pay that and there is no way a dealer would have offered 30k for it mine is insured for market value and thats 21k.

It all sounds like crap to me, $30k from a dealer and insured for $43k  For that amount why even bother selling, just say it went walk about :wasntme:

Mine has all that, 70000kms, is 2006 and cost me 40% less than he is asking.

But...Defenders are pretty great...

With basic extras and only 70k.

On Gumtree.

More realistic.

The extras aren't really factored into any sale reflecting their true value.

Not an apples and apples comparison, Td5 Vs Puma will have lots of differences.

There are a couple of 2008 SVX Defender's on Carsales for over $70k each - makes the TD5 look like a bargain...
