Hey, I have seen these before and sometimes liked them sometimes not.
I got hold of a cheap 130 tub which is in ok condition(has dent in tailgate) so I thought I would give it a go.
I have had a little search on the net and I liked cuci's build on myswag.
It inspired me a bit, I would do a few things differently only because I would use mine for different purposes.
I have also heard discowhite? did a good one but I cant see the photos in that thread.
My plan is to try and keep the weight down if I can.
I dont really have many uses for it at the moment but I would like to most likely use it as a bit of everything trailer and if possible have it so I can change the part in front of the tub later if my needs change.

My goal is to have it rolling before I leave ( 2 months) so I can come back in holidays and do a bit more to it and that way it gives me time to think what i can do to it.

good build weeds. what would you do differently?
I think I will avoid brakes on mine.
I have though about putting a tank on mine and using the fuel fill up hole to put 2 pipes there one for filling the tank and the other to put a hand pump to get the water out.
Things I have been thinking about is do I put the tyre underneath or elsewhere?
Solid axle or not?
I will be using series hubs as I have plenty of them. I thought about using series springs as I have plenty good ones but I will just buy trailer ones,
I will be putting series rims on.
Does anyone know how much the tub weighs?
I am unsure weather to go led or keep it the defender look(boob lights)
my main problem is what do I do with in front of the tub

Biggest mistake was using dura gal......should have used normal steel and than got it gal'd.

If I had the money at the time I would have fitted independent suspension.

Have you got somebody to make an axle to suit land rover stubs??

My dad made his own so I guess I do have someone to make one.
He got someone at his work to change the hubs on the outside so they didnt stick out so much.
I dont have many good photos but I thought you may be able too see in these photos.

He put a hand tipper on it which has proved very handy but I dont think I will do that on mine.
I will paint my chassis with some paint I have left over from painting the s1 chassis.
I do not know what colour I will paint the tub yet.

We might order the steel next week.
Things i have thought about putting in front of the tub(most likely between the front box(not sure if i will buy one or make one yet) jerry cans for both fuel and water(may be better then putting the water underneath), tyre/s, tools, batteries and I have also been thinking about mounting a crane so i can finally lift engines(I would have this as bolt on so I would only need it there when i would intend on using it.

I was also wondering how a defender roof would look like on this as a hardtop lid.
I wish I could use a series roof as there are plenty of them around and I like the ridges but they are not wide enough :(

A Defender turret is the same width a Series 2, 2a & 3. The windscreen height is the only difference.

Isnt the top of the tubs outside width different?
because the defender is wider then the series

The 130 HCPU tub is wider than the Defender body.

Cheers, Mick.

I wonder how hard it would be to cut a series roof and widen it

That's exactly what I am doing at present. Cut it down each side of middle rib and fit wider flat sheet and then possibly reuse centre rib to strengthen.

I then plan on fitting roof rack bars to strengthen and support roof basket.

I needed a long and wheelbase roof to cut up in order to get the front and rear profile section to make extra width.

Most difficult part I anticipate will be fastening it with sealant and screwing it to a wooden floor to spread the sealant prior to finishing it with rivets.

I'll get back into it in a few weeks and learn how to post a photo.
