Hi Guys been lurking in the background for a while. Just kicked off the project

Be ready to be bombarded with questions at some stage....
Is there any one close to Colac Victoria, with a S1 I can sneak a peak at at some stage

Thanks

Most of us post copious words and are slow with the pictures. Well done.

What's the vehicles known history and condition?

Has it been rebuilt previously.

I bought it off a mate of mine, He had it for a while intending to do it up, but never got around to it. It used to have the PTO system in it, but before my mate picked it up the previous owner sold it to someone for as much as the car.

On the whole the chassis seems pretty rust free (bonus) but has a ding in one of the cross members, the fire wall does need some work across the top channel but seems to be it. Everything is there pretty much, down to the taillights.
Body wise, the front guards have copped a bit of a beating but apart from that shes not too bad. It has been bogged up in a few spots and resprayed

The motor is apparently original, it had been done up at some stage, but the valves burnt out, the motor was then part pulled down and the rest is history.

Thanks Mfc.
Whether the hood makes it back on or not time will tell. But I do live in Southern Victoria so I guess without it the driving options could be limited to summer and that's not what I am after.
I should also mention its got a semi floating axle stub on one side and a floating one on the other at the rear axle , interesting.

I think you will find that the bendix drive on the starter has decided to have a look outside the bell housing at some time in the past.

Hope it enjoyed what it saw more than what I did

I've seen a couple of those bendix drives repaired by being tack welded on the starter shaft.

Bit more off it today, then hit it up with a pressure cleaner.

Gearbox and motor have now been removed, Monday night I am setting it up to take care of some of the chassis issues (pics will follow)

However, in the meantime my first new part for the project showed up in the post, no doubt this section will be no surprise to a series 1 owner.

One of the benefits of being a volunteer trainer in the local emergency service is I can set the exercises. The most recent one I set was the controlled roll over of a vehicle using two Turfor winches and vehicle stabilisation.
Just a coincidence this activity happened at my place......rust repairs are on the way soon.
Then the other half of the team can repeat the process

So we've fixed up the rust in the underside of the chassis. Conducted another SES training exercise and put him back on his wheels. And now its back in the shed waiting for a couple of cracks to be welded up and the top rail of the fire wall to be repaired......and maybe waiting for the nights to warm up SW Victoria isn't the most pleasant place to spend your evenings in a shed. ( mind you I still go out and ride my mountain bike in the dark and rain.........not right in the head)

Top channel off firewall. The cancer in the supports and the rest of it doesn't seem to be too bad.

Hi Back in.
Yes I wouldn't mind another firewall, that would be great. Not so much for this project as i have a new section to weld in already, but for Katie, I suspect she will need one some time down the track
