Has anyone tried these - Landrover Land Range Rover Rangerover Defender Vogue HID Hi/Lo 7" round lights | eBay (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Landrover-Land-Range-Rover-Rangerover-Defender-Vogue-HID-Hi-Lo-7-round-lights-/290614285691?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a9f6157b)

If the arc is running as their drawing suggests, at least it's the right direction to mimic an H4 globe.

You do realise your Deefer already has Halogen headlights with H4 globes ?
You don't really need the new lamps, just the HID package unless yours are shot.

I won't go into the legalities or otherwise of HID's, it's been thrashed to death on here already.

Hi Rick :)

I know mine already has Halogens, one of my lenses is cracked though.

I thought they were illegal :/ I will look into this though

Pete,

I have the "better" ebay 55w high and low 4300k HID kit on mine, i replaced the actual headlight and headlight bowl when i fitted them.

Im happy with the output, they are most definetly bright, but i know they are a pain to other drivers. If i had my time again i would opt for a 35w low beam.

Let me know if you want to have a look and be blinded :)

PS, Highbeam is awesome. They make my cheap wipac 8" halogen spots redundent.

Just clicked your ebay link and that is the same kit i have on mine. Great seller, easy to deal with, etc. The 7" lights are on the cheaper side of things but all up im happy for the price.

I went through this some time ago, if you search the thread will come up.

Your better off spending your money on a LED light bar, at least you can turn it on or off at will and not **** off oncoming traffic. And it will give you a hell of a lot more light.

I opted for (recommendation from a member on here) the Phillips XTreme Vision + 55W Halogens. And could not be happier. They definitely do as they say, and the light is slightly whiter more so on low beam. But still a legal replacement bulb.

The other option would be the LED headlamps Mulgo has, too much coin for me but very desirable. I ended solving my light improvement for around $50-$60 with the Phillips XTreme + Vision.

Search eBay the seller was Blingwork_Automotive_Lighting Awesome ebayer, his name is Joe. Very good communication.

You can also buy lamps to replace your cracked one as well.

HID are great and I thought they would be a good option, then realised from a little friendly negative feedback that they really are a selfish option (I'm good stuff everybody else as long as I can see) something to think about.

The plug and play HID kits are a pain in the arse for anyone coming towards you.
There was a local Defender with them fitted and all I wanted to do was take a hammer to them.
Please don't....if you must have HID the do a projector retrofit.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

Dan, yes I'll check yours out sometime!! :D

Babs, My problem isnt high beam output so i dont really need a LED light bar at the moment, my Cibie Super Oscars provide heaps of Highbeam output for now:). My main problem is I have terrible low beam output, so when oncoming traffic approches and I dip my lights I bassically cant see the road ahead :P

Get some Cibie Z beams or Hella equivalent 7" headlights and Traxide's relay kit and either some Plus 120 65/55 H4 globes or 90/100 or 90/130 H4 globes.

Problem solved.

I've been running Cibie 7" headlights for twenty years now over a couple of cars, they are brilliant (pun intended :D)
If you get some either buy locally or if getting from OS make sure they are for RHD use, otherwise the beam pattern on low beam will be wrong, ie. the right side cutoff.

Pete,

The Phillips XTreme XTreme XTreme+ Visions will fix that up, I found a noticeable difference from the standard globes. And no complaints from oncoming traffic.

Thanks for the replies!!

Rick, Hmm I might look into the wiring loom and those cibie lenses. The lenses arent too expensive, loom is $165 looking at the website.

Babs, I might go with the bulbs for now until i can afford the time an money for ricks suggestions.

Cheers

If you are electrically handy you can do your own relay/wiring upgrade, that's what I've always done as I'm cheap :D

Tim's (Traxide) kit is plug and play and everyone that has installed it says it's totally straight forward and very well made.

The Traxide kit works really well and the instructions are easy to follow. My 15 year old son did most of the install for me.
