If anyone is heading to Fraser Island soon, I was advised yesterday that access round Hook Point is only 1 hour either side of low tide due to erosion from the recent storms knocking down trees.
The barge for easter weekend is running from midnight:eek: due to the low tide being at 3am and the limited access.
I will be heading up to Waddy Point from early April for a few weeks holiday maybe more:). If anyone is in the area drop in.

Grimace, I don't care if it rains, it has a bit today, the cottage is nice and dry :p and it makes good sleeping conditions.

The beach on the way up is probably the worst I have ever seen it. There are rocks exposed in lots of places that I have never seen before, including white coffee rock out the front of Dundaburra. There is definitely no beach to drive at high tide for most of the beach south of Indian Head. Might upload some pics later.

Going up to Fraser tomorrow for a couple of nights.
Staying at Kingfisher.
Will be out in one of the Resort buses on Thursday with my staff, so maybe see you at one of the usual haunts.

Cheers Dave, I tend not to travel too far when I'm up here for extended times as the fuel bill adds up very quickly:o. Hope the weather wasn't too bad for your stay at Kingfisher, it's been considerably windy but the rain hasn't been that bad.

Fish? Pics?
How's the Alfa handling in the sand?

Yeah I've caught a few fish, quite tasty thanks:)
So you do want pics - I'll load some sometime.
The red beast is handling the sand nicely, the water puddle may have killed the heater though:o - it was working well beforehand. Really should have checked the depth of the third puddle... Its easy to see how some drown their cars up here.

I have finally got round to loading some photos of the trip so far. I am staying in some accommodation called Waddy lodge which is located next to the Rangers station at Waddy Point. It is the closest accommodation to the beach at this end of the Island. It is quite isolated from all the other residences. The place operates on Gas for cooking, hot water and the BBQ's, and solar for all things electrical with backup batteries for those long periods of rain. When the batteries get below a certain voltage the inverter automatically kicks in the Diesel generator and charges them back up.

The pictures:
1. This was after one of the bypasses, there is still several hundred metres of rock to negotiate - this was at low tide
2. White Coffee Rock just north of Dundaburra (where the club has camped recently) - it blends very well with the sand and could easily be missed if you weren't paying attention.
3-5. Are the accommodation and grounds where I'm staying. The table in the left of the last photo is the filleting/scaling table for all those fish that are caught
