08 Puma loss of power when changing gears

Hi all, my 08 puma defender is starting to give me problems :(

it goes like this. i can engage 1 and 2 gear ok.., i take my foot off the pedal.. rev comes down, clutch in, select 3rd, usually i'll rev up to match the gear before i release the clutch.. but now when i try to rev up to change gear there's no power..

sometimes its a 2 - 3 second delay before the car kind of wakes up and revs up.. thought it might just be a cold day or something, but driving home just now going from 3rd to 4th the power just died.

foot off gas, clutch in, select 4th, try to rev before releasing clutch = no power. had to cruise to the side and stop. by then everything seems normal again.

any thoughts?

the previous owner did have issues with the turbo before but it was apparently fixed more than 20,000ks ago. the puma is now at 106k km.

going for a camping trip tomorrow.. having second thoughts now, don't want to get stranded in the middle of nowhere. :(

Can you rev it up whilst in neutral? I.e. not moving or during coasting?

nope.. not even in neutral

Also, the temp gauge is showing cold each time I start.. Take awhile to get to the normal temp.. Didn't use to be like this :(

If you have a diagnostic tool check the throttle % readings. Also disconnect the clutch switch and see if the revs hold. You could unplug the throttle and clutch switches and give the contacts a good coating of contact cleaner to see if that helps. Also if you were to let the Puma coast down a falling gradient in neutral, do the revs pick up slightly from tickover?
