Hi

I just came across this unit

Landrover, Rover Android, iPod, iPhone, USB & Bluetooth Car Kit | GROM USB2 Plus | Cushie Audio (http://www.cushieaudio.com.au/rover-usb2p.html)

Though the Aus site does not list the Alpine equipped P38's, the US site does.

This looks like exactly what I have been looking for.

When I get one and fit it, i shall report back ;)

I also bought one from the UK (the ICD website linked in Paul's write-up is now defunct.. am assuming they went broke...) This example while under the ICD banner, is actually a Grom (says so on the box... !!)

Works well and responds to steering wheel buttons.

So, I gather that the Alpine head in the D2 must be essentially the same as the P38 version as they don't specifically list the P38, is this correct?

I guess so... mine is the Alpine head and it looks exactly the same as images for the hi-line model in the D2... and it works! The only glitch is a whining noise which corresponds with alternator speed... possibly a poor earth...still trying to find the cause..

Hoges,

Do you have the Bluetooth option for phone, this is the main reason I'm curious?

Hi Mate

The US sire does list the P38, it seems Rover used these head units in Rover75's, P38's, Defenders and some others for a few years.

Steve

Ahh no!:D matter of fact I didn't think about it at that stage because I had a crappy old Nokia for 10 yrs before it recently died... then I decided to do without a mobile phone for a couple of weeks ...ahhh the PEACE !!! now I have a supposedly smart phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) which takes several gestures to make a phone call whereas with the Nokia I could press one button on the keyboard, hold it for a second and it would dial... however I am relenting because my daughter sends photos of grandson to my phone .. now, that is rather smart :D
Ummm will explore the bluetooth option. thanks
