G'day.

If we wanted to renew or replace an air hose ( s ) on the P38, can you buy the hoses already made to length as a replacement part ( s ) or do you buy a roll of hose ( like a roll of fencing wire ) and cut it to length yourself ?

Be useful to know in advance who stocks this stuff !!!

Buying Pre cut for the p38 would probably mean going to you local LR dealer and paying big $$$! Thera are lots of places both online as well as shops such as Enzed hoses that can sell it by the meter then just cut to length. Thankfully the pneumatics in the car use lots of over the counter fittings and hoses.

I bought a few metres of it from either Pirtek or EnZed - can't remember which - when I was fitting the manual inflation system. I also bought the connectors from them.

It's 6mm, not 1/4"

Poms love their metric!

You'd think they would go with BSP for the screw in fitting on the tank but from memory that's imperial! Makes you wonder...

When the end of the 6mm hose is inserted into the valve block or airbags, it seats through 2 o-rings in each collet. You can usually feel 2 distinct movements as you push it through. It's essential that the end of the hose is cut cleanly at 90 degrees. Using a pencil sharpener, cut a very small chamfer on the end of the hose prior to inserting in the collet. This greatly reduces the possibility of distorting the o-rings.

While most of the air hose is o/d 6mm, one or two others are 8mm O/D. Can't quite remember which these are. A quick check with a vernier will sort it out.

Thanks, I will be very careful.
I did not start the thing yesterday and run it for a bit. So this morning it is sitting on the bump stops. GRRR.
I shall once again put some air in the sytem via the bypass kit, go thru the motions of clearing any faults, check with bottle of suds to once again look for leaks and go for a drive for ten K or so and see that it does not show any fault lights. If all is well I shall then raise it to high and pull the relay under the seat to isolate the EAS and let it sit for 24 hrs to see if it sags.
There is the possibility that it may be lowering itself because it is a dumb ****. The ground is not quite level so it might be see sawing itself down to the bump stops trying to level itself but I dont really think so.
I got this thing for nix so I have the idea that it might be better to replace the valve block with a new one as well as the other stuff and start with a new system. Changed my mind about OEM bags and will go with Gen111.
To renew the system with some new would only cost about 4 grand or so, I think but in which case it has not been a large investment overall. The rest of the vehicle, except for the fob situation ( which I would to replace with a complete new ie: barrel, locks, handles and fobs etc. If I could find out where to get them ) is in very good condition and worth spending a few quid on.
