Hey guys, just fitted ram mount to hold my galaxy, now can use ozi explorer android with my topo maps, tried it out around the streets and works really well, ram mount is very robust and strong, inbuilt gps gets 16 gps sigs on cloudy day so not too shabby, photo not too good so will try in daylight

Cheers

Sorry toppa will take photo in daylight, yes its the 18" fleximount bolted using seat torx bolt ( e16 socket needed) i also added a conduit saddle to side of consol just for extra stability, its on special at the moment for $59 from johnny appleseed, all you need to buy extra is the cradle which in my case was for my samsung 10.1 tablet, the best bit kit ive seen, totally positional to suit any config. Running my ozi explorer android version is a great setup, also use mem map which is also fantastic, built in gps makes it all so easy

Cheers

You can't beat RAM products. Johnny Appleseed are pretty good to deal with too I've found. I'm waiting on a mount for my Nexus 7 tablet from them at the moment. I'll post a photo when it's in the vehicle.

I bought the same set up for my iconia tab a year ago. I have used it in my boat with Navionics and still haven't got around to mounting in the truck....solid ball for boat off the dash and flexi arm for truck...toughtray II from Ram is the universal one. Cheers

I have the same setup, though the idea of the conduit clip is good, my one wobbles a bit so that would be a good fix. I am using an Aldi Medion tablet which works well but I have also put a GPS retransmitter that I got from GPS OZ . The RAM he though I got straight from RAM who where at French's Forest and after ordering online I had it the next day. Originally I had it in a 96 D1 but was much easier to mount in the D2

Hi all,

Here is my mount, its one for an ipad, thet I found at the reject shop reduced to 7.50 from 40 bucks , bargain and it fits the samsung beautifully, its suction mount and surprisingly there is now vibration its steady as, I use ozexplorer, memory maps (hema) and Backcountry navigator, oh my trucks a D1

The other device is an ASUS my pal that has Ozexplorer on but I only use it to display the compas and record track data

Ken,

Memory maps is good if you use the 1:25, 000 scale maps, its more user friendly than oz explorer and it better for route and waypoint creation in .GPX format, Backcountry navigator is not as detailed but in my opinion is better, it also accepts .GPX and .KML files from google earth, for trip planning at home and loding it up to follow when out i use memory maps to create them load the file to Backcountry Navigator, if I'm just out exploring then I use Ozi as the digital Aus topo maps for it are great, although tedious to load the first time, the full screen compass is a feature I really like in ozi, one downfall across all 3 is no turn by turn for street nav but I just refer back to the navman for that :)....

Kevin b, do your stay attached off road with the suction cups?
I have a hema hn6 at work which is ok but sustained corrugations will make it fall off.
I'm going to get a nexus 7 with ram mount. Any updates on yours bell?

No problem at all with the suction cup mount, it has never failed as I thought it would...

I had a look at johnny appleseed and the ram mount says it will ship in 2-3 weeks then delivery will be 4 days after that.

I bought one off eBay with a 7inch tablet mount so will hopefully get it before this weekend and set it up.
