View Full Version : Easter campout

Well I must say it was a big weekend with a great bunch of people.
I needed to have a few hours kip yesterday:angel:
The camp spot at Numinbah Trails was perfect to cater for our 50+ members who turned up for either a day trip, or camped.
Huge camp fires were nightly with a great atmosphere of laughs, yarns and of course Landie banter.
Certainly some late nights crawling into the camper, without trying to wake the tent boss.
Did not work, fell on her after the first night lol, and was in the dog house for a day after that :D
We were well catered for with a huge camp area, with plenty of room for everyone.
The Nerang River runs along the camp area, where the kids spent hours riding a boogie board or tyre tube down the slow moving flow of the river.
Great swimming hole for the kids to jump off a ledge into the water.
Kept them most of the time out of the adults hair.
We did do some basic driving on the property, but was restricted due to the many horse trail rides that were conducted over the weekend.
Great reports from the group on the location, camp area etc etc, so think we will make this a yearly Easter Trip.
Thanks to all who attended, and hope you had a relaxing Easter break with the club.
A few other attendees are going to post some photos for all to see.
See you on one of our next GCLRO Trips !!!:cool:

The camp looking a little forlorn with most gone and the rest packing up.

Unfortunately I didn't take the camera down to the river at all. But the river was just behind the camp.

Thans to Dave for organising a great weekend.
We arrived on the thursday night, set up camp, and had a very enjoyable weekend. Unfortunately we didnt get many pictures either but I have put a few below.
Swimming in the creek was great, along with the huge fires!

As usual, a great outing!
Sorry, no piccies here either but great memories!
Could someone tell me again how mighty that fire was:twisted:.
It was also the first time ever that the disco decided to attempt a 180 whilst traversing the wet grass after our cave visit. I am sure there are still finger imprints in the passenger side dash:p.
Thanks to all for the great company:D.

Lol, seems most were having too much fun to take millions of shots, I had to be told to take photos at one stage :D
Didn't get many, first was our camp setup out in the open field;

Others camped down in the shaded area, closer to the creek;

Which was great for the adults and kids whom enjoyed it for hours on end;

To enter our camp and own private area we had to cross the creek further down stream;

Sometimes we pretended to supervise the children;

As you came up out of the creek crossing you could spot the group from a distance;

We explored the rainforest... but in under 20 minutes had to return due to dead ends and fuel flowing from places it really shouldn't;

The empty cabin that spooked me out on sunday night;

That's all for the main three nights and days! As most had departed camp on Sunday due to the on coming rain I had retired my camera but luckily I did whip it out to get a couple more shots.
As we knew some rain was coming I decided that there was enough energetic children around to help me erect a ground tarp. The rats also provided some shelter;

Then yarns commence around the combustion chamber;

The rain got heavier and the thunder and lightning provided much entertainment, we all huddled under cover;
http://imageshack.us/a/img705/4505/mg7934.jpg
The kids enjoyed my rave tent, complete with funky hip hop tunes (JJJ) and biltong!!!

The rain eventually settled, the combustion chamber was still going strong;

Then it got loose again, many a laughs, as per previous nights banter. Spooked myself out thinking about scary monsters coming out of the cabin at the top of the hill, then finished the donated beers and went to bed!!!
Thanks to all who attended and made the short journey to attend. Thanks to Dave (Busman) for arranging, organising and securing such an orsum spot.
Thanks also to the owners of the property Dave and Kim for being the best hosts, along with teaching us some fire safety facts :)
Thanks to those who cut and collected firewood to allow everyone to attend such great camping fires till the early mornings.
Finally thanks to those who fed me dinners, and deserts. I enjoyed it very much, not as much as my 2am steaks thou :D
Pete and Wayne, thanks for the beers, still ran out :D

We did a little four-wheel-driving (unfortunately the main trails on the property were not available), had a look around the old homestead, went fishing in a couple of the big waterholes along the river there, swam, and spent time re-building the river-crossing.
Then later in the arvo we lit a big campfire (with help from Ians' gas torch) and swapped a few yarns.
Upon nightfall our headlights showed the way through the river crossing as we turned our 4wd towards home.
Yes, we were tired. But were bright eyed and felt good.
