Mystery Diesel on bellhousing

Hey all.

So after one of the lines on the bottom of my transmission came loose and proceeded to ruin the brickwork on my driveway and the brickwork leading halfway up the street, i have stumbled upon a bit of an enigma.

There seems to be diesel trickling (very slowly) down the driver's side of the bellhousing, and onto whatever happens to be underneath the car at the time, in this particular case it was my face.

Since i'm normally parked on the dirt i haven't noticed untill now. but fuel going onto the road and not being burnt does account for the appaling milage i've been getting.

any ideas on what this might be? injectors maybe?

Anyway, the Mandrover is overdue for a service, so if all else fails i'll pay someone else to deal with it. (of course, being a student i'd rather not)

This is correct. If you have small hands and patience, you can replace the regulator yourself without pulling much stuff apart. But if you have big hands and lack patience, pay someone to do it. It took me a couple of hours as a pipe got stuck, and a fair bit of muttering under my breath as well as some lost skin.

Assuming you have a disco, A tip with the bottom bolt is to use several extension bars and feed them through between the chassis and the body under the front guard, the defender has slightly more room anyway

I have fairly small hands and found I was able to remove/refit in about an hour.

If you use a 1/4" drive socket with a couple of extensions it's not too bad to get on to the bolts. You'll find at least one wobble extension will make the job a lot simpler.

I've removed all the EGR junk and mounting brackets from the inner guard so that makes access a bit easier. I was able to access all the bolts by threading the extensions between the fuel and cooler hoses.

Urban Panzer has a tutorial on his website which pretty good, but I didn't find it necessary to use the spanners he recommends at all.
