I have a 3000 litre corrugated zinc rainwater tank, which sits on a low timber tankstand.
Part of the stand rotted out and dropped.
As the tank was full of water, it buckled a bit along the bottom edge and sprung a leak.
The tank is of the modern type where everything is rolled and siliconed (not soldered).
I have repaired the buckle, and have sent one of the small humans in to inspect. He reported that the silicone had split in the area of the buckle, so that's the reason for the leak.
Once it dries out I will reseal that section. It's not used for drinking water, but is used for chooks, garden etc. so something food-grade is probably required.
The question is, what is the best type of silicone/mastic to use?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Even though you are not drinking the water, I would still use a food grade silicone for the repair. Also, use a neutral cure, not an acetic cure silicone. You should be able to get some from your local hardware store. If you can find one suitable for fish tanks - that will also work.
