Water pump coolant leak

G'day all
I have recently replaced all cooling system pipes on my D2 due to a top hose blow out. All was sweet until I high pressure cleaned the engine and noticed coolant leaking from somewhere near the base of the water pump (impossible to see exactly where). I have now removed water pump, bearing seal does not show any signs of any leakage but gasket is compromised in bottom left hand corner (will attach photo shortly). Should I replace gasket only or pump as well, I would hate to have to go through the whole process again....! Your thoughts would be much appreciated.....

Also seeing as I have plenty of room in the front of the engine bay ATM I was thinking of replacing the front crank seal (small leak there too I believe). Is this a reasonably easy task or one best left for the pro's????

I'd probably advise replacing the water pump while you are there. From the sounds of it, it's you doing the labouring so it's only the parts cost, but while you have the pump off anyway, you may as well replace it with a new one.

For the front seal leak, I'm pretty sure you can only replace it by taking the timing case off. It's not difficult to do, just there's a few things extra you have to unbolt (AC compressor, PS pump) to get to it.

Get yourself a copy of RAVE (available in the shop, at the top of the forum), take a look through the instructions and then decide.

buy a genuine water pump as well for $50 more, they have a cast impeller not the pressed steel one from the after market suppliers. Talk to British 4WD in Tassie. they know what they're talking about.
