Hi,

I'm just wondering the easiest and least destructive way to get through the plastic bumper to get to the bolts holding the front nudge bar on.

I've been trying for about 40 mins and can't seem to get anything to sit properly without falling out, or just simply not fitting due to the size of the tiny cavity they have left.

Should I just tear away at the bumper to make the hole bigger?

Cheers.

If it went on it has to be able to come off!! Are you looking at replacing the assembly with a B/Bar?

Depends which one you are taking about - there are at least 4 styles. If they are the thick plastic bars that bolt to the top of the factory bumper the instructions show that the bumper needs to be removed to install the bolts. I'd guess you'd need to remove the bumper to access without causing damage.

The tube style bars mount to brackets that attach to the crush can mounting points and you should be able to access the bolts from underneath.

cheers
Paul

It's the tube style.

I can see where the bolts attach, and I can get a socket on one side, but the plastic blocks the nut which I need access too.

I'm thinking of just going to cut a hole big enough to gain access.

Can you get to them by removing the grille and going in from the top? I'm looking at fitting an LR nudge bar to my D2a and the pdf instructions have me removing the grille for some reason - I can only assume that it's to get to the bolts you are referring to.

Maybe, I'll have a look later tonight.

I have a RAVE CD in the car too, I might look at that a bit closer. I don't remember it saying much more than you need to remove the 4 bolts of the nudge bar before getting the plastic bumper off...

I just removed mine as it is rusted - pity it is powder coated - need to get rid of this so taht i can then look at rewelding it - any ideas? - Hopefully some sort of paint/plastic stripper will be ok.

LR Bull bar/nudge bar on a D2 - But - there is just enough room to get a ring spanner on the plastic side - with a socket & extension on the other side to loosen the nuts.

Hope this helps

After sorting out one side, it's become pretty obvious that there was no bar originally.

I finally got the tools in on one side and managed to get the bolts loosened, however when I changed sides the hole is about half the size (Plus the visual measuring marks I found), and even if the tools fit there's no room to actually move.

Looks like I'll be adjusting the plastic bumper a little.
