hi all,

recently bypassed the egr on my Td5 with a new kit and silicone hoses. the egr (cylinder type) on the front obviously has incoming water and outgoing returning to the expansion tank. do i block off the now redundant hose coming towards the egr unit (now gone) or simply return to bottom of expansion tank. any help appreciated. thx

Not just a take out and bypass job. Pipes are different sizes - 16mm and 10 mm, so adaptor required. I suggest you leave it in place.

yes you can bypass the unit and remove it if you like. Just carry the hose to its next termination. Or leave it all insitu .

Cheers Scott

Yes as Bsperka says re the hose, but I thought that was self evident :)

May be different setup on a Defender Td5 but I removed the plumbing all the way, took out the 4 way joiner under expansion tank and replaced with a 3 way , removed plumbing under manifold and metal pipe behind engine, and blocked off the water outlet on the oil cooler with a silicone hose and alloy bung, about 1.5 meters less plumbing & many less potential fail points. Cooling system now much easier to bleed too.
