I am in the market for some new wheels for my 130, and was hoping somebody has had some experience with Performance Wheels

http://www.performancewheels.com.au/Home/Wheels.asp'theGroup=4&Cat=4WD

There are sets for sale at the moment on Gumtree, and to be honest the lady on the phone quoted me a new set of 4 delivered to my door for less than $900.00

I ask this cause they have a rating of 1400 kilos, are alloy and a hell of a lot cheaper than getting a set of ZU's!

Any info would be great!

The problem we (Defender drivers) usually experience is finding a wheel with a PCD of 5 x 165.1 which they seem to have and the 16 X 7 has an offset of negative 4, which all fit fine.

The only concern then would be why they are so cheap - get what you pay for and all that. ZU's are rudely expensive, but their 1400kg load rating is TUV certified (German Bureau of Standards) which basically mean that they are really rated at that.

Hopefully this is a good genuine deal, and I'm sure the guys will post comments and opinions soon.

Cheers,

Lou

By all accounts these wheels are beasts - popular on rally trucks due to their strength and the wheel on which the Stun internal beadlock wheels were based. A few here on AULRO rate them very highly indeed.

Great load rating too - just a bit old school in the looks department and not well known. They're on my list but I think I want a bit more bling and beadlocks too...

I have the 16x7 TX1 Performance rims on my 110.

They have taken a lot of abuse and are still round and all in one piece.

I'd recommend them.

They look like they should be on a boat trailer

Yep! A boat trailer it may be!

But bang for your buck, I don't think they are too bad..........

Well, here they are! The finished product. Yep, they may look like trailer wheels, but to be brutally honest, I really can't say a bad word about them or their business.

I ordered 5 wheels. They were manufactured, and delivered to my door within two weeks for less than $900.00

They have an offset of plus 4, which has made about an inch difference compared to my old wheels. They have the same load rating as ZU's but less than half the price.

The wife is happy!

They look good don't know about the centre caps tho . Are they the same wheels that use the staun internal bead locks?

I must admit they are a bit blingy, and that I am not 100% sold on the centre caps. But it won't be long until they are a bit tarnished when we head out on a hunting trip in the next couple of weeks, and after that I may loose the centre caps as I reckon they will be a storage haven for dirt and grit!

Some more photos as requested by PM.

The tyres are standard size for defender 130. There is no "eyebrow" or faring on the rear and it sticks out about 50ml. The front does not protrude at all.

Sorry about the quality of photos, but it is late in day and I grabbed them as quick as I could.
