Oh well it had to happen, SWMBO is driving the new D4 home, so far has lost instrument lights, speedo and tachometer is bouncing around and sometimes doesn't want to start, it's 10-00 pm at night and she is on her own.
Anyone else had any issues with the 2013 model yet?

Thanks
Jack

Well the car made it home, I took it for a drive around the block, it's like sitting in a disco with the dash lamps all flashing, it has some benefits... The odo back to 00000 and according to the speedo when it does light up, the car now accelerates from nought to 70 in about .5 of a second:). I have parked it for the night, but now won't start again, so will try again in the morning or a call to LR assist will be required to get it back to Southerns.

I have read about something similar on the disco3 forum. It turned out to be a bad earth point connection. I think it was located in the drivers side foot well.

I'll see if I can locate the post.

Found it:

DISCO3.CO.UK - View topic - dash lights flickering, no starting (http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic42156-30.html) (first post 3rd page for solution)

It seems there were other pre-existing issues with this particular car but, the specific issue of a flickering dash and car not starting was caused by the bad earth connection. This may be different in your case.

Definitely get LR to sort out your issues under warranty - don't do anything yourself.

Thanks Sean, the LR Assit had no luck starting, battery ok, just waiting
the service dept to open up, they will have to make a house call, as they won't be able to get a flat top up the driveway. ( you need to be a mounting goat )
I did also try the hard re-set, but with no luck.

Thanks again

Good luck Jack.

Hopefully you will be dealing with Joe. He always looks after me, as opposed to one of the other knobs.

Had 2x chaps come out and have a look, but with no success so far, hoping for a software glitch, the service has been fantastic, I had the first chap here at just after 5.00am and the second chap arrive not long after the first chap left to have a crack to, have made contact with the dealer and they are hoping to send a tech out with a laptop, so fingers crossed. Very impressed with the after sales,
They are trying very hard to sort.

I doubt its software related, more likely to be the already-mentioned loose earth post somewhere.

Battery has been tested and was ok, one of the LR Assit guys changed it just to make sure, it's going to be on a flatbed shortly, managed to get it down the driveway in one piece, had 3 x different guys look today, bit of a head scratcher
until we get it back to the dealership I'm afraid. Will let you know the outcome and fix, thanks for your help guys,

All fixed, picked up the car this morning, turned out to be the speedo / tachometer instrument cluster Assy. This was a the first time they had seen the problem before, and I'm pleased LRA had in stock.

It's annoying that a new car does breakdown, but how quickly it gets fixed and on the way again is what you remember, I have noticed the dealers sometimes cop a little flack from time to time, but I can't fault the service I received, and they provided some wheels while the D4 was off the road. So I'm still a happy customer, plan on camping next week, so hopefully the problem was a one off
and the dreaded flashing of faults lamps and no fire under the hood doesn't return anytime soon

The D4 electrical trickery is one of life's un solved mysterys, but that's all part of the fun!:)
