Have to give a big thank you to Jose of Td5inside (a AULRO vendor)
who has tailored an excellent remap for me.

When I bought my Td5 110 it already had a Tombie Stage 1 remap which I was most impressed with and suited the car perfectly.

I made a few more mods including upgraded Allisport intercooler & replaced muffler with 3" hotdog. Now the ECU tuning needed to be modified as the performance was more in the top end and this did not suit as I'm towing a caravan around Australia.

Camped in a caravan park with Wireless 4G in one hand and Nanocom Evo in other hand I contacted Jose who was very helpful and with all the Info I could give about the car including a copy of Nanocom CSV log , injector codes etc came up with a new Fuel Map to try.

First remap turned the Defender into a completey different feel and bought the torque back down lower in the rev range ( woohoo) but kept over boosting even with wastegate rod screwed right back.

Jose modified map but 2nd try would not upload to ECU, this had me worried a I did not want to brick ECU in the middle of nowhere so updated Nanocom firmware to latest (which I should have done in the first place)

3rd map to try arrived in email from Jose and bingo. Uploaded to ECU first try, and instant success. The Td5 now pulls right thru the rev range, if 5th was made of more robust stuff I could stay in 5 all day. EGT dosent go over about 680 pulling the van , even wide open up hill and that is a huge improvement. ( it easily ran over the 750's before )

Also as a result of the new remap there are not any "ghost faults" on the ECU that always used to appear.

Very happy with Td5inside remap and would reccomend to anyone as the service and result is excellent.

Also as a result of the new remap there are not any "ghost faults" on the ECU that always used to appear.

"Ghost faults" only occur when there is an incompatibility between the .map based as a basis for the remap and the ECU. The fault logged is real and points to the ECU not receiving the input it expects from a sensor.

José's remaps are very good in this regard and reflect the care he takes with his work.

The Td5Inside facebook page has a short (bad) video of "Australia's fastest Td5". It's a Defender with a Stage 4 remap and VNT turbo. Anyone know more about this?

cheers
Paul

I have been in discussion with the guys at td5inside over the last couple of weeks.

Thanks for your diligence I appreciate your work and patience

I have had some issues with excessive smoke so I commend them for their patience
Over here the authorities can be a bit touchy with smoke so I have to be a bit careful.
That said the vehicles in the videos I have seen blow as much or more smoke than mine.

If anyone hasn't had an email response for the last week I understand they have had bad storms and internet issues in Portugal.

Thank you guys for all the positive feedback!

Goingbush, excellent project, please keep on giving me feedback of the car !!

Thank you Chilly.

Offtrack, I believe there is a AULRO post somewhere of BennyIIa regarding the td5 with the big, and I mean big, turbo!!

Djam1, bear in mind that almost all the cars in the vídeos are cars developed for big 4x4 events ,with big tyres and we try to extract as much power as we can within engine reliability! Also, they are almost all running stock land rover turbo, wich of course has limited airflow at lower revs wich cause some smoke before the turbo kicks in! 90% of our work are some more consevative remaps with little or no smoke!!

Specificaly regarding your car, I´ve been over and over with the fuelling inputs to try and understand what its happening. You have a VNT turbo and, according to you, we have reached a good performance level, with the only problem being a bit of smoke in the lower revs, when changing gear, and this not always happen!

I´m gonna reduce fuel injection by 10% to see what´s what....
