Immobiliser

1994 Disco V8i Auto,

Today I stopped a roundabout to let a car go through, then moved off to turn right, and got about halfway round and the car just stopped as if someone had turned the key off.

Restarted the car no problems and has been ok since.

This has happened about 6 times in the last 6months, I thought it may have been the fuel pump on the way out so I changed that about a month ago.

Driving home I had a thought, could it be the Immobiliser (this is the first time I have used it) so when I got in the driveway at home I flicked it on and the car stopped exactly lke what happened every other time.

I am sure it is an after market one as it just operates off a push switch on the dash.

Does any one know how they work and what it is attached to, to cut the engine as I would like to disable it and see if that may be the problem.

I was going to take it to the auto elect to check but seeing as it so intermittant he probably won't find any thing wrong.

Not sure if its the same set up as yours but I remember doing something similar (kill switch) to this with a hidden toggle switch in an old holden years ago it was tapped into the coil wires might pay to have a look around there for a start......hope this helps
