The after market ones are crap unfortunately. Had one in mine and you can see the wires in the screen, and at night when light hits them it can be hard to see as the wires cause the light to spread all over the windscreen - almost dangerous at times. Couldn't wait for it to break - which it did a couple of months ago and I replaced it with a standard unit, as the OEM heated screen is waaaay too much. Cost me $260 fitted...:)
Insurance companies will only fit the aftermarket screens, so I don't bother with windscreen insurance.
I think JSP has just found out how bad they are after having a new screen like this fitted by his insurance company.
Cheers - Gav.

Can’t agree more with Bacicat, mine was put in by windscreens Obrien without consultation and it’s not a pleasant experience, like looking out a flyscreen door........

On the D1's they have heated windscreen and its only very occasionally when the sun hits it at the right angle do I see all the lines.Mostly during late autumn - winter period when the sun is lower in the sky.
cheers
