My injector pump belt broke tonight at 45000km on it.

Has anyone else had problems with Allmakes timing belts?

Or is my Freelander 1 sooking because I bought a freelander 2

I guess you should count your blessings that it was the fuel pump belt and not the cam belt - if the latter it would not be worth fixing. I have not heard of issues with any L series belts even when they have been used longer than they should have been.

I haven't seen belt issues with the L series as well, but I have had problems with Allmakes products before.

Never had an issue with allmakes stuff and I used to use them a lot in the uk.
Have you had it off to see if you can trace the cause yet?

Yes its off. I cant see any cause of why it has snapped. It looks like a old belt that's just worn out. teeth are coming off and snapped.
Have put a genuine belt that has been sitting in my shed for years on and runs perfectly.

Removed the cover on the main belt and looks fine.

Going to replace both with Dayco or Gates. Wont be using allmakes again, I have seen to many early failures with there parts.

Just before I sold my L series last year, I did the belts. The belts on their were Daycos, 8 years old and covered just over 100,000km and other than a the smooth side being a little shiney the belts looked like new.

So for a belt to go at 40,000km with the deterioration you mentioned is a worry. Clearly sub standard.

The lettering on the back side is still visible and clear. All I can put it down to is poor quality.
