Hey folks,

I'm sorry of this is already covered somewhere else, but does anybody have any advice on inspection cameras or boroscopes? I am thinking of getting one for using occasionally for doing things like peeping inside heads, chassis rails, you-name-it. I'd preferably like to find one with as small a camera head as possible.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

John

They are the same as can be bought on ebay for about $100. They are OK but not great - more for looking at engine numbers and things like that - also as an alternative to looking for things that fallen down rather than a mirror and torch.

These are not so good for looking down holes etc as you cannot change the focus and the led light is not great.

I am also looking for one as the one I have - same as the above does not really cut the mustard. Did use it for looking down the sewerage with the extension added but never found the blockage just the little bits of dunny paper which being white reflects the light form the LEDs.

jaycar sell some very good ones and spy shops sell even smaller ones but they arent brilliant in small areas due to the poor supplied lighting they carry.

IF you're ever out my way you're welcome to throw your mk 1's over my pair to have a look at the difference between the oldschool fibre optical and the newer mini camera type.

Ive got a $100 ebay "Snakescope" excellent, can adjust everything but focus,

did not need to look at inlet valve stem through the MAP sensor hole - but just seeing how good the tool was

In your opinion Dave, is the old school better than the new? I'be looked @ a number of mini camera scopes, even hired a couple for jobs at work but so far been unimpressed with the performance.

I have one, used it 3 times, and now it's a useless scrap of plastic,
1st the LED's went:mad:, then the camera lost colour and only showed Black and white , then the off on wheel switch went :mad:and the damn end is too thick for things like spark plug holes to get into bores.
not happy jan and out of warranty period
Yes ,cheap but would have expected more use.
I give it 1 out of 10 rubber chickens

only complaint I have about mine is every time I use it I have to put a fresh set of batteries, still works like a charm, I have not tried but the end would go close to fitting in a glowplug hole.

Aldi have theirs for sale again from today, $90.
And Autobarn have a sale on, with their 9mm inspection camera @ $80, apparently that's $50 off.
