angle grinder - cut a bonnet in your bonnet....
Ooooorrr..... get someone to pull the cable (perhaps further than your lever currently allows) whilst you push up/unlatch the bonnet. Could be stretched cable or worn 'pop' spring.

It happened to me a few years ago on a customer's D2. I sharpened a flat blade screw driver and aimed it through the grille and cut off the protective plastic pocket from under the latch. Then I manipulated the latch lever from the front and the bonnet opened. There was a white nylon spacer on the cable outer that had broken up. I made a new spacer out of a scrap of copper tube. Took about 1/2 hour.

Thanks mate will look into that, it sounds like it could be a solution, i need to get in because i have a slight coolant leak at the top hose where it joins the front of the motor
