Hi All,

I went to a reputable 4x4 dealer wanting to order the ARB Deluxe winch bar and Kaymar rear carrier/bar.

The story from the reputable dealer is, both vendors do not recommend or have never fitted either to the latest MY13 HSE 8 speed TDI.

I am keen to get definitive feedback from people who have these products already fitted to a MY13 HSE 3.0ltr 8 speed?

I do understand there are park sensor issues and forward looking camera issues, but these can be resolved with re-location and wiring.

Regards

Great. You have the cash, and they try to talk you out of it.

Did they say why ?

Arb have got around the parking sensors issue I believe.

Maybe need to go to another dealer who is happy to take your money, or even call Kaymar direct.

It does not sound right to me.

Some ARB dealers since the first D3 HSE came out in 2005 have been telling punters that ARB front bars can't be fitted to HSE's. How do I know this ARB in Moorebank Sydney told me only two years ago that they couldn't fit one of their bars to a HSE.

Yet the ARB representative that comes on here occasionally when I asked him said that this is incorrect

Just ring around other ARB dealers to find out if there is some thing different for the 2013 HSE model.

Ring Kilsyth, In Victoria-ARB's head office & ask WTF is going on.

If the management don't know, then it will never be fixed!

For a company of this nature you think that bulletins would be sent to all ARB's resellers to advise managers & staff know.

I'd have thought the front sensors wouldn't be a problem, but can understand problems if you have surround cameras, but not all HSEs have surround cameras either.

The hassle people seem to have with front bars, and the GVM problem is one reason I'm trying to keep mine fairly stock, except for underbody protection and second battery.

I tried for an ARB but they declined after measuring etc because the cameras were in conflict with the HSE edition of the Disco.
So ended with the ECB alloy which works perfectly.
And the Kaymar rear bar can also be made to work.
That said mine is a 2012 Oct HSE.
Both front and back also painted to match the car body and again no issues with the sensors etc.

My vehicle is a 2011 HSE and has an ARB bull bar fitted. Mind you at that time (18 months ago) I had much drama and hurdles to jump to get an ARB franchise to fit the bar. Luckily I had help from a number of forum members. The ARB internal comms back then was, in my humble opinion, hopeless. They did not seem to know what bar would fit and what would not?

There are posts elswhere on the forum going back a year or two about bullbars.

Unless there has been a fundamental change to the front end of the D4 over the last 18 months the the ARB bar should fit (cameras aside).

It seems to me the hang up around HSE models goes back to previous Disco models and even then they may not have been accurate. There are a number of ARB franchisees that are more than willing to assist you just have to find them.

Good luck with that!

I guess a simple solution would be to buy a OL bar and forget about ARB if they think it is impossible, even though we know it is possible.

I think their issue lies with confusing HSE's with the V8 models.

ARB deluxe and kaymar on MY12 SE with forward park sensors
here. My forward sensors work sometimes. Most of the time the are jammed on. ARB managed to confuse the system to the point it shut down and the dealer had to reset it. I can park it in the shed with front sensors working, get out next morning and they are jammed on (and vice versa).

All this and i'm yet to mention the absolutely horrendous job ARB did fitting the front bar. "Finish" was damn close to vandalism. I have never before in my life seen such a poor standard of work. It looked like someone had taken an axe to my car while drunk, and they took 4 days to deliver this.

My issues were mosty fixed eventually (for some value of "fixed" - see parking sensors) but I will never again use (name of store deleted) for mechanical work.

Sad to read.

I have decided to fit all my accessories myself. Get to know the vehicles nod the mechanical setup in the event of bush mechanic repairs.

Happy to share experience and happy snaps when completed.
