Stumbled across this today. Sorry if it is a double post.

Top idea, but still the issue of tail lights being hard to see/blocked. Am thinking about fabricating my own.

It features a number of Landrovers in the Adventurers section

iSi Advanced 4x4 Bicycle Carrier and Bike Rack Systems (http://www.isi-carriers.com/index.html)

thats cool, other than the tail light issue! almost need to get the lights that hang on ttailers to hang on the back and plug into the trailer plug. wish there was something like that for an adult trike. i can nolonger ride a 2 wheel bike, so ive got a trike. would love to take it places!

I'm in the process of building my own version of their 4 bike carrier at the moment.

I've had to leave room for my 32" MT spare so the bikes appear to be unnecessarily too far back from the car.
Just have to determine where to weld on the mount for the rear cross bar, trim the main beam and do some final assembly before I take it for a test run.

I didn't like the idea of clamping the bikes down by the top tube so I have used an upper hoop on the rear wheel to clamp the bikes onto the carrier.

I should have it mostly finished this weekend so I'll post some more photos.

Grip Sport (http://www.gripsport.com.au/) do a similar rack and have done a custom one for a trike.

As promised, here are some photos of the progress on my carrier. I took it for a lap of the block today. It is quite stable and the bikes are very secure. I strapped the wheels in but it really wasn't necessary.

A few more parts to make and then it's done. I'll leave it as is for a while and once happy with it, I'll get it zinc plated.

Are you going to fit lights etc and operate via a trailer plug?

I'm pretty sure plod won't like the overhang from the vehicle without warning.

Just like outboard motors etc...

I have considered doing that and I've drilled and tapped holes at the back of the carrier for exactly that purpose.

Having said that, the one from ISI-Carriers (link in the original post) doesn't have lights or number plate provision ...
