Dash Switch and regulator for Locker

I thought search would have returned something but this topic is likely buried somewhere in here.

The standard dash switches for the cruise control, fog lights, hazard lights and the eas lock button are all normal switches with two pins for the illumination aren't they? There are no relays or special circuitry in them and just switch with two pins to break the circuit and two pins for the 12V source for the illumination?

Reason I am asking is that I am buying an Ashcroft locker for the rear and would like to use the spare spot in the dash in my SE poverty pack. I used an aftermarket rocker switch for the eas isolation switch put in a blank, which looks tidy but I'm thinking of a switch that blends a bit more for the locker.

This is the black hazard switch I was thinking of using.

While I am at it I'll give a link for a pressure regulator I am thinking of using for the locker. Yeh its cheap but there are people who didn't even use a regulator on the P38 air tank to the ashcroft locker so if it fails to reduce the pressure all of a sudden I'm not too fussed, or should I be?

Oh and I'm not buying the locker for 10 weeks, so planning ahead, as I'll be in England then for 5 weeks. Yeh don't laugh...... much. But I have 30kg allowance and Ashcroft say the locker is only 12.5kg and its summer so I'll likely pack light anyway.... Or maybe I'll get it shipped for $AU170 if I find I'm borderline after I pack.

Don't forget to order it (along with the P38 spacer ring) prior to going overseas. They sell heaps but don't always have them in stock.

There was a thread here from memory, where someone used a dash switch from a manual P38's transfer case engagement for a locker. The manual ones didn't have a stubby lever, just a dash switch. Might be worth a look!

As for the pressure regulator, I say go for it! I am one of the dodgy buggers not running one, so far I've not run into dramas but I do suggest you do it. I will be adding one to mine in the near future.

Cool. I'll have a look for one of those switches. Guessing they're pretty rare though. So the others aren't suitable? I'd prefer a different switch but just not sure how easy it will be to find one... Google will be my friend I hope.

I had realised you don't run a regulator from another thread, just didn't want to start naming the dodgy guys ha ha.

Off topic: It looks like you're the Keith who's commenting on the same Facebook topic about the angled spacers I'm guessing?

I am not 100% sure on this so do check up. All of the Dash switches are Momentary switch type apart from the very rare accessory spot light switch.

Here is what I did with a foglamp switch I butchered, It looks pretty good when fitted into the dash alongside the others, The original light illuminates when the switch is on, not the red switch lens. Switches are $1 on ebay

There is a non momentary switch on the dashboard, it is the suspension inhibit switch. It can be simply wired up to have the light come on when active as well as the dash light for night time. No butchering required, except with a texta to cover up part of the inhibit logo :)

Oh ok thanks. After you mentioned it I remembered someone saying it about the fog lights, but hadn't realised they all were. Sorta makes sense that the becm has control of it all I guess.

Your switch looks tidy.

Good thing is that this switch is normally off so the illumination is fine. Especially with your tidy way of doing it and using the standard oem light. Might look for a cheap second hand one that has a working light now.

And now the bla bla bla.....

I made one switch already in a blank for the eas power isolation. Ended up with no light because when I wired it to be illuminated when power was cut from the eas (the opposite of design but on paper it seemed it should have worked) ..... Well I could go on but let's just say that the switch went back to the normal way and chose not to have any light cause it was too bright and normally on. Thought about revisiting why it didn't switch off but the dash is a give away when it's off.

Height inhibit switch bought now.

Cheap pressure regulator bought. Rated to 10.2 kg force per square cm which is about 145 PSI. My tank typically shows 130PSI so lets hope the Chinese product has some safety factors in there. The other ones I looked at didn't even rate this high. Just hope they didn't just change the specs to sell more.

For the amount of time you use it, it'd be alright! Mine typically only stays on for 30 seconds then I'm up the hill or washout and off goes the locker.
