View Full Version : Help! How do I do the bolts up on new bumper (photos)

Not the best job by yourself but loving it anyway - stuck on how to do the 2x2 bolts up on the chassis rail at the front. Bolts slide in but can't see easy way to put the nuts on??

Ps really only outside ones. Might fiddle with those first b4 putting the nuts on the inside ones.

I just battled that last night with my terrafirma bar!

My bar came with 2 little T's that had 2 holes tapped in them. So from in front of the bar/chassis rail I could slide the little T in and hold the bottom 'stem' while turning the bolt to start the thread. Once the 2 bolts are started - no need to hold anything just tighten the bolts up! Easyish......

What got me was that my bar bolted back to the steering guard bolt as well. The steering guard bolt is not long enough :( so I had to go buy 2 new bolts $7 from a fasteners joint.

Buy the buy.... whats the legalities of the front number plate? My bar doesn't have a number plate 'spot'. I dont have a winch so I just bent a couple bits of metal to make a bracket to fit existing holes on the bar over the "hook hole" - I don't know the name for it.... but can I just take the plate off????

That's what I need. One of the nuts just rolled into the flange in the rail. I am in time out.

That's what I need. One of the nuts just rolled into the flange in the rail. I am in time out.

I would need a time-out for that too!!! wow. did you think of pulling the nuts off your standard bar and using them? have a look - might be helpful....

Good idea, I'm the engine crane unfortunately. The only way I can push the lost nut back is to drill a hole in the front chassis (or drive up something steep).

Thanks for the tip with the T. I just used some solder wrapped around the nut and all 4 done in 2 minutes. Not bad for an office boy if I do say!

Nice job! I probably wouldn't thought of using solder...

The engine crane is handy sometimes
