I have just fitted +5 terra firma shocks on the back, I have +2 springs, as well as dislocation cones. I just gave her a flex test today & the right cone won't pick up the spring (left seemed fine) I'm guessing the only options left are taller springs (who makes these?) or a shorter shock. Any one have this combo, & have you encounted this problem, and how was it sorted? I have seen pics of defenders on the east coast rover site and they get massive flex without springs coming away. Need to know how this is done. Cheers.

Chall Spring Locator (http://www.gwynlewis4x4.co.uk/page68.html)

These are a good solution:D have a look at the full challenge kit that raises your shock mounts so you can use the full travel both down and up without having to lengthen your bump stops.
Terrafirma also make a copy .

I went with a standard cone as this happened to my mate running the hook cones you recommended. I figured if they didn't work for him, they wouldn't for me. cheers though. I'm leaning towards a taller spring. Still like to hear from people running the same set up as me.

Many challenge defenders are running this setup without this issue.. And my RRC with upside down discovery front shock towers, cut down as cones didn't have this issue (however, RRC had a 4" spring.. maybe thats why)

However- I think it may have something to do with running progressive rate springs on your mates truck- the hook can't get onto the coils which are close together.

Tried running a non-progressive spring? Eg a lovells or OME? Maybe they're a tad longer or something..

And just to make sure.. you're not running any sort of shortened top shock mount or anything silly right?

The springs are OME +2's. Shock mounts are Terra Firma that match the shocks, I picked up the shocks & mounts for $200, so I'd like to keep them on. I can only think of a taller spring to fix my dilemma, as I don't really want to go a shorter travel shock, mind you if I do, I have the lockers to help when a wheel goes up in the air. This is the sort of travel I'm getting, well a bit more, hence my problem.

Flip the springs upside down in that first pic and the hooks should work.......
But they'd probably bend the bottom retainer plate on full flex.....unless its been strengthened.....
