Hi all,
i late 2011 model disco 4. the soft plastic surround where the seat belt comes out of the pillar is wearing where the seat belt rubs agianst it. It is more thant half way worn through ie at least 5 mm. not only is this plastic wearing but the belt is also starting to frey.
i have asked for it to be fixed under warranty as i believe it is either poor product or poor design. At very least it does not fit hte durability clause of consumer garuntees. Both the dealer and LRA have said it is considered wear and tear.
What seat belt and interior should wear and tear in a 2 year time frame?? i know of plenty of 10+ year old cars that have no problems as such.
To get it replaced at COST value thorugh the dealer is $255
Has anyone else had this problem?
Cheers
Will

Contact ACCC. Safety issue if the belt has worn. Frayed seat belt is a pink slip fail.
The plastic on my seven year old D3 has worn but the belt has not frayed.
After only two years is not good.

Mine is the same with the surround. I'd be going to ACCC or Fair Trading etc also as it is a safety issue. We had fraying on our 2003 VW Polo and that was replaced under warranty, no questions asked.

They replace the inner door seal rubber when it splits, no questions asked. How's that different to the interior plastic wearing in your situation?

Partly down to the useless Dubbo dealer not pushing?
