Hi Guys,

Am looking at fitting an UHF to my 2012 PUMA and am looking at advice from people on brand and where to fit it...I was thinking about roof console but money is tight after buying the 110...

I was looking on ebay and saw the Oricom and the price looks good..anyone running one for these???

Cheers

I put mine on the right side of the cubby box. I would have put it behind but I have a sub woofer there. I found that in front it interfered with the gear stick too much.

Hi Gingz, I know price is an issue, but some brands and models have all the controls on their microphone so locating the radio itself is much more flexible as you don't need it where you can see it. Others have separate head units so the need to mount a large unit is reduced to mounting a much smaller piece of gear.Cheers, 130man.

I've mounted the actual radio of our GME into the box under the drivers seat (2010 Puma) and the remote head on the front of the cubby box just behind the low/high ratio lever.
The mic is up just out of the way of the steering wheel on the facia.
The gear lever does obstruct reading what channel it's on but that's not generally too important once you've set it.
Cheers.

I just screwed mine to the rear of the cubby box, Unfortunately I dont have the sub woofer in mine so it fitted and works quite well there

I have the same setup including sub woofer.

I have a GME TX3100 attached to the right front of the cubby box with the microphone attached to the left front. Does not interfere with gear changing. Controls all easy to access. Speaker out in the open.

No subwoofer in mine, so its mounted at the back of the cubbie.

I do however have one of the GME ones that has all the controls on the mic (TX 3540), so I don't really need to have it fitted anywhere I need access to it.

Great system for only about $40 more...

Cheers,

Lou

Hi ATH,
Exact same set up, GME in the box under the drivers seat and remote head screwed to the front of the cubby box. Having the rdio under the seat makes the wiring neater and it s easy to get the antenna cable into the box underneath.

I went for the Uniden UH7760NB - one with all the controls on the mic. I have the mic mounted on the drivers side of the dash beside the radio. Happy with it so far.

My Uniden 7700 fits very easily mounted on the side of the cubby next to the drivers seat. I have a space saving sub behind the cubby but i wouldn't like that location as i do play with the channels and volume quite a bit.

Still working out where to store the mic other than in my lap or down the same side of the seat though...

Another with the radio mounted on the right hand side of the cubby box. Mic located on the front angled section. Only downfall I can see is dust/crumbs etc accumulate on the recessed LCD screen. (elderly GME TX3200)

Hi,
again right hand side of cubby. I made an angle bracket from aluminium for the radio and hold the bracket down by putting it under the edge of the cubby and screwing it down.
A temp mounting until I sort out what I will do with a new 80 channel model.

cheers

I had a compact unit mounted on the dash. Practical, but the dash ended up a bit cluttered:

In the next car I moved it to a roof console which works well. Using an extension cable, the microphone was later mounted in place of the cigarette lighter which I thought was better than having the mic overhead:
