Good luck :). They are a nice set up, what year was it built? I know there have been some concerns over the build quality of those built overseas.

It's new, yes that's why I said wish me luck, I have been equivocating for some time because I haven't been able to find a good second hand one for a reasonable price and the new one was just too expensive and there have been some quality questions. But I finally took the plunge and got a good deal. So I hope I haven't just made an expensive mistake.

But I just haven't been able to find another one which meets my needs as well as the design of these do. I love that it can sleep 4 in proper beds off the ground and that the whole thing can be set up ready to sleep and cook undercover in 5 minutes without fiddling around with lots of fiddly poles ropes and spreaders etc. I also like that it can carry 9 Jerry cans instead of a built in water tank which makes the water supply easier and safer. I also love the boat loader set up and solar panel set up.

Well the beauty is since it is new, you can get any issues sorted under warranty, if any arise. I agree totally with you, a great set up. My mate has an older one and he loves it.

I take it you are planning to be one of the first ten people to buy one that day. :)

First trip planned?

Yep, Sydney to Carnaron Gorge, then visit family in Barcaldine, then probably home via Birdsville.

Bit cranky, was supposed to be delivered this week, but has been a delay and now won't get it in time for my trip. To their credit they have lent me a trailer to get me on the road, but it is not the same trailer and will limit our activities planned as it is not as capable.

Rubbish! It's a loan trailer...

As capable as a Hire car....

Hire cars can cross speed humps at 100, brake in half the time and go where a 4wd fears to tread.

I'm sure a loan trailer can do likewise!!!!

Hire cars can only be bettered by government cars.:p

Based on a search it would appear this link is to the Trak Shak manufacturer in China. From what it says on their web site it seems you need to order from them in batches of 6. So if only 10 were purchased under the offer the first 6 were right to go. They then needed another 2 sales before could place a second order.

I saw what was described as a new trak shack on eBay a couple of months back. It was obviously direct from the Chinese factory and not via trak shack. I wonder how they circumnavigated the official trading agreements? It was considerably cheaper.

No that's a crap copy which is causing some problems at the moment, I bought mine from Trak Shak Australia the real deal. They do get the basic trailer built in China, but they fit it out with Australian made canvas and accessories when the basic chassis gets here from China.

Yeah - got a quote for 2 units from the Chinese factory today. Unbelievably cheap. Must be copies as they're too good to be true. Also spoke to a guy who brought 4 in and had a few concerns/horror stories.

Well it has been a long time coming, only about three months late but I finally picked it up today. First impressions are very good, the chassis is now a camp o matic chassis and looks very solid, the new Independant could spring suspension set up with four shocks looks great. The canvas which is Australian made Wax Converters Textiles canvas is very high quality and all the seams and stiching look very good. The kitchen is basic but all stainless and has lots of space and is very flexible. Massve solar array with huge output and deep cycle battery. great full length toolbox on the side. 2 very comfy Queen size beds with inner spring mattresses. Reading lights, lots of Anderson plug outlets and cig lighter and USB outlets in bed area. Tons of unencumbered space in the tent area and very high tent, it feels like being in a unit not a camper.

Electric and override brakes, spare stub axle and hub on board. 9 water jerries, 2 x 4kg gas bottles.

Only done a short trip home so far, but tows beautifully and don't even know its there behind the D3, until you look in the mirror of course because its loody huge.

Only a few minor made in China notes for the trailer body, on the whole the welds etc are good and everything looks heavy duty, there are a couple of slightly dodgy welds on the ends of the boat loader arms but not structural more cosmetic.

Can't wait to take it for its first outing.
