View Full Version : EAS Compressor Thermal Switch

More fun with the EAS recently and had a few soft faults that threw up inconsistent fault reading on the EAS Unlock software. Finally last week had the chance to look further and identified the culprit.
Symptom:
*strange changes from height settings eg from highway mode to high off-road height. ( happened a couple of times without explanation and then went back down to standard height.
* Slow to get to standard height or any height for that matter.
* and finally compressor works ( when jumped or selected through the Unlock software but fails to start under normal conditions. Searching on this and other forums suggests failed Compressor Thermal Switch.

Thankfully I had a new compressor from the UK on hand so swapped out the compressor and all is good.
Now that Hard Range has ceased does anyone have a suggested supplier of the thermal switch. Have printed out your instructions Paul on the replacement guide (thanks).

Always happens, spoke too soon. New compressor is now behaving the same after first appearing to solve the problem. Back to the drawing board. Discard previous symptoms and fix.

I'm leaning towards a dodgy EAS ECU...

Thanks Keithy I am leaning that way as well . I am pretty sure the delay relay is OK as seems to click when testing but haven't checked it fully yet.

I'd swap the Delay Timer before the Valve Block Driver. Easy and cheaper, and more common source of weirdness.

Checked out thermal switch and continuity checked ok. Have pressurised the system to standard height through the unlock software and manually operating the pump and pulled the relay so at least i am off my bum.
Think it could be the pressure switch as there was no continuity between pins 7 and 9 on the plug when she was down and haven't checked again as yet when its all up. Will have to check up on that as cant recall whether circuit should be open or closed when pressurised versus under.
Paul is there a procedure to check the relay (Delay relay) by just applying 12v to it and listening for the click?

not that I know of, anyone else know how to test the Delay Timer?
