Awesome jets.

I will never forget my time working on them or my one flight in one in the right hand seat. Loved every minute of it. I did see my fried rice again though.... (flight in and around Penang and Butterworth, hence the fried rice...)

The sexiest aircraft ever to fly. On a hiding to nowhere from day one in the mid 50s when the US Navy and SAC were told to design a joint aircraft, and did everything to avoid it...but hey Grumman perservered and the F111 was born. A fly in the right hand seat wow. Isn't the 'fried rice' the man in the left hand seat's flight objective?
One of my favourite books...'The Flight of the Pig'.

apparently was quite popular on the open cockpit weekend. first year in a while i wasn't camped under the caribou's wing

was talking to one of the guides that will be helping at the exhibit, they had to do a training course just to be a guide as there are specific routines that have to be followed..

amazing i thought..

I managed to stroke 129's wing at a display in the 70's and got a civvy pass onto the base with a mate who was a RAAF Armourer a decade later. One had been on display that week. We ducked under the rope and I was gazing gobsmaked up into the open bomb bay before the nice man with the big dog came and asked us to move on!!
