Hello Landie drivers, have a mate (John - campoven) who has just bought a landie in Perth and driving home to Darwin. He has broken down 50-70km north of Meekatharra. He sent a message with a truck driver (as he has no phone reception) to notify the police in Meekatharra who notified my wife and also notified the WA roadside assist. Have just spoken to John's wife and as yet no one has gone out to help him. If anyone is out that way can you keep your eye out for him. He is in a silver/blue puma 130 dualcab. I am in townsville Qld so can't help, thought someone might be travelling out that way.

Good to hear your Mate back on the road.
Im sure if he was stopped any fellow Defender owner would have come to his aid, (tho not many out there would have internet to get this message.)
I was stopped on the side of the road with bonnet up on a 80 series Landcruiser near Cue WA, nothing serious just a broken belt tensioner, countless Landcruisers and other vehicles drove past, and who should stop to ask if I was OK, a bloke in a Defender .
A favour I have returned many times and many to come I'm sure. Its just what we do !!!

Funniest one I saw was a 100 series cruiser who quickly shut the bonnet when we slowed in the Defender to offer help. They waved us on. Taking a corner a few 100 metres down the read we saw them open the bonet again. Since I was dropping of a mate I saw an hour later they were still there and again as soon as they saw the Defender the bonnet was closed:D.

A mate and I in Defenders, were on the dunes at Robe in 40.C Heat and we spied a Jeep club in the distance with all the bonnets up due to overheating. All the bonnets went down when we approached.

I was also on a trip at Southend in SA. when we came across a Jeep driver on his own with his youg family hopelessly stuck in the sand dunes , we got him out , he then tagged along with us for the rest of the weekend .

Glad you're home OK.
May not solve your problem, but I've had a couple of ignition barrel's stick in the past. A decent dose of graphite powder and some exercise and they never gave any more problem.
