I`ll be not far behind you. I finish up at joy-vile at the end of the week. At least it was six weeks work. Longest since Christmas. At least over the west, as far as I know by what I read and hear, there should be a bit of work around.

I hate that! and sympathise with you mate.
The pecking order is TAX man gets first bite of the cherry, I think employees entitlements come next, then creditors, that's after the liquidators take the crumbs.
I've been in that situation. It stinks when you are owed money

I know the feeling. Just before knock off Friday called in and told my casual position gone and could leave at any time. But they were still content to offer and expect overtime on a daily basis. So far calls to agencies have been less than optimistic.

Like Lloyd's Ships in Brisbane a few years ago. All fine on Friday afternoon, everyone went home for the weekend. Come Monday morning the place is locked up tight, security guards on duty, and the receivers and managers in possession of the premises. Workers not allowed in to pick up their tools. "Everything in here belongs to the receivers. Prove they are yours. Got invoices and receipts?" Took some heavy union intervention before the workers were allowed in under supervision to collect their personal belongings.

somehow the mindset of employees being classed as a financial liabilty has to be over come. An economy based on fear of retrenchment does not open wallets to goods and services, maybe offer reduced hours or negotiated pay as an option ?

Bugger Richard, that's some real bad news. Hope you'll find something soon. I'm sure you will, you're a great guy and if I'm not mistaken well known in your field of expertise.
If all else fails you can always start to charge to guide a trip to Harvey :eek:, now that the wet stuff is rolling in.
Cheers, Jurgens.

Sorry to hear that Richard but I know a man of your quality won't stay down for long
I'm also in the same boat, at the moment the company I work for has been in all the papers saying we are going under and the boss is saying we're not BUT we are in trouble I'm just hoping he gets through it as there is no work down here in TAS

Same thing happened to a friend of mine a few years ago,he worked for a specialist car service company after returning from UK where he took his new son to show grandparents, greeted with "don't bother taking your tools out" so he went home a few days later one of the customers rang him and asked if he would service his vehicle, that started what became his own business as then other customers followed, his original boss lost a LOT of his clients.
