Hi Forumites,
I've had a quick search and can't find anything specific, I've found people who have re-upholstered original seats etc, I was wondering if there are people who have actually changed the front seats for something a little more comfortable.
Understand the access requirements under the seats and know the downsides of not having access. Has anyone done a seat conversion with "something" that is a bit more comfortable and still retains easy access to the under seat compartments?
           Just interested.............

I've been contemplating having a pair of Rangie seats that I have lying around, reupholstered to match the interior of the 130- after driving Rangies for the previous 18 years I miss the fold-down armrest and the general comfort of the rangie seats, also I would like to gain a higher seating position. I'm not too concerned about losing easy access to under the driver's seat, but would have to have access to the batteries under the passenger seat, like I said this is a project in the 'thinking about it' stage at present. There was a post on here recently about making an access hole in the side of the under-seat compartment, provides easy access to any stored items and the closed door prevents stuff falling out.

The previous owner fitted front seats from a Nissan. The seats are bolted to a steel plate. The passenger side steel plate is hinged at the rear so the whole plate and seat lifts up and folds back. The plate is secured by bolts with wing nuts and a clamp. Very easy to access.
I cant recall if the drivers seat plate is hinged but there's a side entrance cut out for access to the storage area. (it's a 300tdi)
I'll try to get some photo's this weekend.

Hi BreakingBad,
Hinge, I like it, that'll work. I had thought about just mounting the batteries in the back and using the "battery box" as a storage area, just run slightly longer battery cables into the back under the false floor my 110 has got. Then install a standard style seat, and I agree with POD, not much in my wifes or my opinion will surpass the comfort of a Rangie seat.
Pictures of the hinge fitting would be good if you could, hope he hasn't got a copyright.........
