Local reco engines go for up to $8000 fitted so $3500 is a good price if that's from one of the larger landrover after market places then get them to organise to send it over should still be cheaper than here:)
Land Rover Discovery 1 Engine 300 Tdi | John Craddock Ltd (http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/land-rover-discovery/discovery-1/parts/engine/engine-300-tdi/'si=reco+engine)
craddocks have them but remember price is pounds not dollars:) actually that works out to be $3500 plus freight

Send Juddy a PM. I think he's bringing a container over in August.

MR Auto should have a block and crank waiting and they can supply the head.
Swmbo decided not to invest in the short setup I had put aside when she did the head in her disco so to my knowledge it should still be on shelf.

Give Turner Engineering a call after 6pm NSW time on 0011441342834713 - the lady on the switch there told be they sent an engine to perth last week and it only took 7 days economy freight - she'll be able to give you a price - you'll be up for gst as well because total will be over $1000.
If I understand correctly, some of the experiences related on this site would indicate that you exercise caution if dealing with some other pommie outfits.

One out of a defender - (don't know how much difference there is), it's now on ebay with no reserve

I would suggest that you check the insurance damaged vehicles auctions, might be able to pick up a rear. Or rolled D1 TDI cheaply and then just do an engine change,or,get a complete D1 Diesel which is poor body/interior wise,I knocked back a grubby 300TDI auto a couple of months age 4mths Reg (Qld) for $3000 drive away tyres were 50/60%
cheers

Sorry but a diesel motor from a rolled car can be a can of worms , A diesel can run up side down which means the oil is nowhere near the important parts could seize or spin bearings . Plus the possibility of hydraulic locking = bent rods , Unless you can start a engine from said car be very careful

If you are interested I have a 2nd hand one available. I bought a discovery 1 for wrecking and it has a running engine in it. At the moment the car can be driven so the engine can be checked out. It is also cheap.

I needed a 300tdi engine for my mate and I found an exchange one for $2750.
The bloke that I got it off said it cost him over 3g because it had to have oversize pistons etc in it.
Getting it fitted next week, then go for a drive to bed it in.:D
I'm in Sydney,if you want his number,pm me.
He's a LR 2nd hand dealer.
cheers
