Gooday
I have been away the past couple of months working up in Mapoon North of Weipa (great bit of Oz) so SWMBO has had exclusive use of the D3 (2008/9) for all that time.
Now I have come home she is complaining that the car seemed "Doughy" & loosing it's get up & go?
I drive the car a lot harder than she does but she does at least 1 trip a day into town which is up & down some steep hills + she drove to Atherton once or twice a week which is also hilly & windy. I have pretty much found the cars Mumbo fine since I have been home?
Is she imagining things? Am I OK with it because I haven't driven it for so long?
Her second complaint is the dreaded "Random Boing!" which she said is far more regular, nothing in the message center & she has seen no warning lights, though she is usually looking at the road.
Again, since I have got home only 1 Random Boing which happened up a steep hill round a sharp corner in manual mode with me giving it a bit, I saw a very quick red flash from the warning light set under the Tacho but no ide wich light, I mean a really quick flash.
So, any explinations for the above or is SWMBO just getting old, silly & senile, which is my sus****ion?

I experienced at random the boing sound and saw no message early on in the D3 ownership and only seemed to occur under acceleration.
The learning was that I was a tad lazy with the right foot positioning in that when pressing the go pedal I was also slightly pressing the brake. The system has a small spit in confusion hence the boing.
Maybe something to consider... especially if she is used to another car with different pedal spacing.

good point, or, likes to drive with both feet - one for the brake and the other for the accelerator( I hate that - never know if they are coming or going).

She doesn't drive with both feet, but her normal car is an old Mitsubishi Delica, the pedals are quite different so she could have her foot to far to the left.
I will check next time she is driving.

She didn't have anything heavy (like her handbag) on the passenger seat did she ??? ... that'll cause the dreaded random "bong" :o
Does she drive it in "sport" mode ? or just let the auto do it's own thinking ?
makes a big difference especially in hilly country...
that's all I can think of... good luck
P.S. of course you can tell her that "the old D3 is getting to the end of it's tether - maybe it's time to get a brand new 3.0 D4" heh heh heh

Whatever it is, and these are two great hypotheses, you should listen to her. If something feels wrong, then it is. Driving a Landrover you develop special powers in that regard.

You drive harder than her..
The transmission has adapted to her driving most likely and making soft shifts etc.
You driving it has likely commenced a relearn

Bong and light could be DSC activating? Low tyre pressure or four wheel alignment out?

Ravenshoe QLD; I spent my last five years of high school up there at Ravenshoe SHS, class of 2002 - my mum still lives on 'Gentle Annie', visit her every year!
I would get a random bong, blip in the stereo, "Park Brake Fault" on the DIS and Christmas tree lights for a split second after some quite rough fire tracks that I took with 20s on :bangin: . This culminated in the car being dead at work one day. Battery terminal had worked its way off. Put it back on and all good.
A good one is also when I would have something heavy on the passenger's seat, ie a carton of beer. The seat belt chime would go off over every bump. This led to me clipping the seat belt and some amused looks from my mates when I arrived to pick them up!!

SWMBO's hand bag is small, hold more stuff than Defer & she is the only 1 who can find anything in it! But it would not be heavy enough to set off the seat belt sensor.
I did a tyre check yesterday, the left front was down about 10 PSI so that could explain a bit. I thoufght she felt a bit sloppy (the D3, not SWMBO).
I think the adaptive gear box learning her evil, gental driving style might be something, I always drive through the hills & bends in Sport or Manual mode, I don't think SWMBO even knows how to do that.
Anyway, I have to go back to Mapoon in a week for a couple of weeks, when I get back the D3 will be due for a service, so I will have things checked.
Thanks for the replies.
