Finally picked up the D3 from Brisbane last weekend - drove back via Toowoomba, Roma & Emerald....AWSOME! Just wanted to keep on going till I got to the Territory:p

Performed really well with a fuel averge for the trip around 13.5/100 - Not to unhappy with that given the road works, hills and traffic conditions.

Only issue on the run was with cruise control...worked fine...but when it changed down a gear it seemed to remain in that specific gear for ages (regardless of terrain) on a couple of occasions I got so paranoid & thought something maybe amiss so I reset back to 100 kmh on the downside of the Hills.....any ideas

Taking the beast to Mackay next Friday for a check over at the LR Dealer before warranty expires (we've alread used 1600km of the 5000km warranty - in 9 days)

Wife has confiscated the beast (I have to ask permission now) and named it 'Lola' FFS?? I don't even have a set keys for it>>>>

Maybe I should by my own...another Defender:D

Cheers

Has the Auto & Transfer fluid been changed?
That is the first thing I'd be doing with it, also get them to make sure the software is up to date on the gearbox.
I've been recommended to have them changed every 50,000k to ensure you get the best life out of the transmission.

Have a '05 V8 HSE also and toured 1000's of Km's in the past 4 years. the Cruse Control does seem to hang in 5th once it has changed back. I've developed a habit slipping the shift over to manual and forcing the transmission into 6th on long drives, particular on highway cruising. (gives me something do while the miles fly buy!)

I can get below 12L/100 in some instances...but 13L/100 is about normal.

I've had a long chat to my LR dealer senior tech re the transmission fluid - he's indicated to me that if the vehicle has not done any significant towing - leave the transmission fluid alone

Pretty sure that ZF are now recommending an oil change every 80,000 k's (or fewer under load, towing, off-road etc.) for the 6 speed.
Not sure exactly on cost, but $600 ish sounds better than $7k!

Thanks Col,

"War Office" says she taps the minus button on the CC a couple of times and change up occurs.....getting excited tomorrow is Saturday, I get to wash the Disco and fill it up with fuel (plan to tell her the local Caltex was closed and I had to drive to.....Mackay??)

Nah...heading into the 'big smoke' (Mackay) for the Caravan & Camping Show tomorrow (I see a camper trailer in our future, getting too old to swag it nowadays...)

Cheers
