I got a phone call today from an Indian fellow who I could hardly understand.
He informed me that my bank had overcharged me $5248.00 in bank fees and that he was from a government department which was overseeing it's return.
He gave me an application number and a Sydney phone number that I had to ring to give the number to.
When I phoned that number they also Indians, told me all I had to do was to pay the overseas lawyer $110.00 which was his class action fee. YEA I'M RICH!!!!!!
I would also have to too stupid to be able to pour water out of a boot!
Is there any one I can contact to stop these ripoff pratts?
Watch out People. I smell a scam.
Regards Nick.

If I hear the delay that these calls usually have before someone talks, or an Indian accent saying they're from "technical services" or whatever, I just hang up. But I've signed up for this https://www.donotcall.gov.au/ and it's worth doing.

I used to regularly get calls from similar mobs regarding a nasty virus on my PC.
Was quite some fun keeping them on the line paying for the calls, going from operator to supervisor etc, finally telling them I use Linux or don't even have an internet connection. OK, small white lie, but fun none the less.

We switched from a regular Optus phone number to VoIP (mynetfone.com.au) and all of those annoying scam calls have gone away. It won't be long until we get rid of the "land line" altogether.

I used to have fun playing with them, but now it's a bit boring.
I just quietly put the phone down and let them talk.
The most annoying thing you can do to them is waste their time:D

If it was a Sydney number you rang, then why don't you report it to the Federal or NSW police to follow up.

Beat me to it. I do the same & put it on loudspeaker & laugh as my 5 yr old tells them about things like her pink bike :D The whole time the guy is asking if mummy or daddy is there.....I just tell her to keep talking until he finally hangs up.

If you have a phone number then call the police about it and ask their advice if its worth them following it up.
