Hi all
My Pop bought this one for me if I am a good boy, :):)
seeing as I am only 14 and a half years old. I will have to convince
my mum to drive it for the time being.
We have a couple things to fix on the car, as with a 56 year old car.
It is a 1957,
88inch wheelbase,
2 litre petrol,
it has rear pto and
front capstan winch.
My Pop and I think we got it for a reasonable price judging
by what we have seen lately.
Guess what we paid??
All the best

looks very good I would have to say it would be at least 7k.
This would be a great car for you to do your learners in No need to worry about breaking the speed limit and I could just imagine the face on the instructor assuming it is the same over there as here when going for your Ps

Hi KC

I learnt to drive in a series one, about fifty years ago and I intend to use the original windscreen from that same Land Rover when I restore 'HECter'.

They are a lot of fun to drive and look after. Then you can point to it saying I learnt to drive in that Land Rover, fifty years time from now.

KC,
I realise it was just bad luck and only a light scrape but at the moment
its the best I have to stir Ian up with - !!
Especially after he ignored me on Anzac Day!!! (well thats my new verson of events :) :wasntme: )

Ian,
Unfortunately as I said before...I'm a have not but wishes I had :(

Ian and KC,
Seriously though it is a top looking bus,
I do like the rear cover, Ive wondered how a cover like that would look and with the tyre cover on the front I think it transforms the old girl quite well.

I'd love to see the driver testing officers face if you tested in the Landy... If he complains about anything ask him to drive it..almost a guarentee he'd fluff the changes

Do you have anything (yet) to run off the PTO drum with? May be the next target? :) I do know you love the landys so its definately going to be in good hands...question now is, if your mum starts driving it...will she give it back? :)

Enjoy! Looking forward to the further photos.

Hi All
The Brakes needed redoing which included all new rubbers for the master and wheel cylinders,
a flexible brake pipe, a new master cylinder piston and all new brakes shoes.
We had to be very careful with the rear wheel cylinders as they
were covered in asbestos dust from the old shoes. (See Photo)
here are a couple photos of before the clean up
Sorry No After Photos.
We also replaced the front wheel bearings.
Thanks to Pop for the work he put in.:D

Hi All
The gearbox, transfer case, front and rear diffs and the engine
were covered in a mixture of mud, grease and oil
So Pop and I decided to clean them.
Many many cans of degreaser and a pressure washer later.
The gearbox and transfer case came up a treat,
here are some photos of the gearbox
and I will get some more photos this weekend.
Many thanks to Pop

Hi all
I have been a bit lazy posting on this thread.
So I decided it was about time I posted some progress photos.
Pop and I decided the chassis needed to be cleaned, few little areas repaired and repainted because there had been another coat of paint put on the chassis at some point in the past, the area that the paint was applied wasn't cleaned probably before the paint was applied so the paint is now peeling off, so the body needed to be taken off.

Hi All
The rubber plug in the side of the bellhousing had fallen out some time in the past.
So over time the bellhousing, clutch and thrust bearing
had become full of dirt.
So anytime Pop or I went to move the car we were
greeted by a very noisy thrust bearing and clutch.
It was decided that the gearbox and transfer case
were going to be rebuild.
We drain the oil out of the gearbox/transfer case
and found two halves of one of the flat syncro springs in the oil.
Finding that just proved that the gearbox needed to be rebuild.
With Drive shafts and Everything else (speedo cable, earth cable etc) removed, the Gearbox was ready to be removed.
Here is the photos
