Aldi 30L "Adventure Ridge" 12/240V cool boxes - comments?

Hello all.

A trip to Aldi this morning for some new wool jumpers revealed they have a pile of "Adventure Ridge" brand 30L cool boxes. I know that there were some happy owners of the larger stainless cased fridges, but has anyone used one of these before? We normally just cart an esky and ice, but there have been times when all I want to keep cold is a small amount of meat, cheese and a couple of beers. These times the esky seems like overkill and takes up too much room in the Disco. We have a smaller one, but half a bag of ice goes to wast and it doesn't stay cool for long. Current price for the cool box is $79.95. I'm tempted.

are the 'thermo electric' or compressor driven? the 'thermo electric' (peltior in 99% of cases) are next to useless imo. if its compressor driven it should be okay and great at that price.

its a peltier cooler job.

good as a warmer, not as a cooler.

If yo uwant a fridge I advise putting your money toward a second hand compressor driven fridge or if its for extended camping a 3 way if you dont like the price of the compressor ones.

I bought one,it keeps stuff cool ok but struggles to bring temps down. I use a couple of freezer bricks.

These "coolers" only cool to 30 degrees celsius below ambient air temperatures, so if your cooler is in the back of your vehicle on a hot day, temps inside a locked car can average 60 degrees celsius> So your cooler will be 30 degrees celsius inside the cooler, bye, bye any perishables and heavy on battery as well, Regards Frank.

I just bought one of the Adventure Ridge coolers from Aldi and am having trouble fitting the fuse - how did you manage it if you dont mind me asking - Cheers Howard

Mine was plug in and go, the fuse was ready to go.

ok thanks for that - i saw the 2 spare fuses and thought i had to fit on but am struggling to find out where it goes
