02 L322 front end down with the rear at max off road height and the ride height indicator flashing level and off road. Any ideas ?

Busted front airbag would be my first guess, or a stuffed ride height sensor. Have you had the air bags done yet? If not you have done well. Are you getting any faults coming up?

No warnings messages just both sides of front sitting on bump stops and the rear at max height.

As above, check for BIG airbag leaks and / or an air line/ crosslink solenoid leak.
No faults shown means no electronic faults, the ECU doesn't detect an air leak like this immediately, usually after a while of trying to level out etc it will realise something is amiss.

Stuffed air bag was the cause.

If the EAS ECU goes into error mode, i.e. shut down mode, and the cause was a leaking air bag, after replacing for a new one, will the ECU re consider the situation or does it have to go off to the dealer for reseting?

It would need resetting. If you don't have your own diagnostic tool, then you will need a dealer or similar to do it.

Thanks for the info Gav,
Got another one, found this in the forums, will this work?....
Resetting ALL Defect Codes
Ignition key must be “off”.
• Press and hold the Check Control button in the instrument cluster (RIGHT button), and turn the ignition key to the first position (KLR).
* You will first see "Check Control OK", some seconds later you will see "Test Nr.01"
* Push the left button on the instrument cluster to see the car's identification number.
Add the 5 digits (not 6) together and write down that number, you will need it for unlocking all the functions.
Example: A123457 will lead to 2+3+4+5+7 = 21
* Push the right button until you see "Test Nr.19"
* Push left button until you see the number that is equal to the one you calculated above
* Push right button again
* Using the left button select 21. Reset all defect codes
* Press the Right button to select.

Unfortunately, as mentioned, that won't work for an EAS lockout...:(
It really does pay to have your own diagnostic tool when you have one of these things.... Mine has payed for itself already.

Thanks Bacicat, that of course leads me to ask to the question which/what diagnostic tool(s) are the best value for money/best range of features, etc. I say this in advance, I know there are a plethora of choices and this depends... however, there is usually one that everyone/most share a consensus would be the best to own, and I guess this is the question I am asking here, as in a qualified one.
Cheers

Only one choice as far as I'm concerned, and the one Gary mentioned. The GAP Diagnostics IID tool. I haven't heard of anyone regret buying one of these.
Get one from fleabay UK, heaps cheaper than getting one here through Britpart.
This one if your's is an earlier version - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-L322-2002-2005-IID-TOOL-DIAGNOSTIC-IIDTOOL-FAULT-CODE-READER-SCANNER-/330917669900?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item4d0c3aec0c
This one if it is a later model - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RANGE-ROVER-L322-2005-2009-IID-TOOL-DIAGNOSTIC-IIDTOOL-FAULT-CODE-READER-SCANNER-/370808572483?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item5655e9ca43

But if you want to be able to do everything and you have deeper pockets, then log on to Black Box Solutions.
I hear that some guys don't like them, but I've had their system(s) now for some 9 years and I have nothing but praise for their system (and backup service/advice I might add) as MORE capable than the dealer's Textbook system!
You get what you pay for, I guess.
They also have a quite helpful forum, q&A from them and other owners.

Upper ball joint for your VIN should be : RBK 500210
Your VIN comes up as a 4.4 V8. But no other details. Is that correct

I have just replaced the front two air bags and struts with a new Dunlop package, used a shop air-compressor to pump them back up again and sealed up the system. Being ~200 kms from a stealer with a T4 computer, I drove around a regional town for someone who had a computer to reset the EAS ECU, and I swear, as I pulled up in the driveway of Mercedes Benz/BMW specialist, 'wound down' the window to talk to the mechanic, the computer reset itself mid conversation, the lights on the contre console came back on, and actively levelled out all four bags, saved a hundred bucks or so! :D: Don't get many wins, what a joy.
Drove it back to work, and bang the "Air Susp. Inactive" message reappeared after the ignition was shut off. :censored: Thought I spoke too soon.
A couple of hours later, jumped back in , drove off, EAS was active, and has remained so ever since. Fingers crossed, knock on wood, spin three times to the right or left or whatever...hope this helps others before having drive/float the tank a few hundred to a stealer.
